ANNAPOLIS, Md. –– Jack Dabek (Fr., Dublin, Ohio) and Andrew Ton (So., Milpitas, Calif.) each won a pair of singles matches to help the Navy (15-5) men's tennis team defeat two Northeast Conference opponents Friday at the Tose Family Tennis Center.  The Mids closed out their 10-match homestand with a 4-1 win over Fairleigh Dickinson (2-6) and a 7-0 victory over St. Francis Brooklyn (1-6).
 
"It was a stellar day for Jack Dabek," said Navy head coach Chris Garner.  "He clinched both matches with wins over good opponents."
 
Navy won the doubles point against Fairleigh Dickinson thanks to a pair of 6-3 victories at the Nos. 2 and 3 flights.  Romesh Kahatapitiya (So., Virginia Beach, Va.) and Derrick Thompson (Fr., Towson, Md.) teamed for the win at No. 2 doubles, with Cameron Kirkpatrick (Sr., Menlo Park, Calif.) and Conners O'Brien (Fr., Rensselaer, N.Y.) combining for the win at the No. 3 flight.
 
Thompson gave the Mids a 2-0 lead with his 6-0, 6-1 victory over Andris Gudins at No. 2 singles, then the advantage became 3-0 in favor of the Mids when Ton defeated Mehdi Dhouib, 6-0, 6-1, at the No. 1 flight. 
 
FDU earned the next point to draw to within 3-1, but Dabek followed with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Moric Budinszky to close out the match.
 
After a short rest, the Mids returned to the court for their match against the Terriers.
 
Navy swept the three doubles matches to earn the first point of the match.  Andrew Hicks (Sr., Haddon Heights, N.J.) lost just one game in winning a straight set decision at No. 6 singles to double Navy's lead to 2-0.  Ton won a 6-2, 6-1 match at No. 1 singles, then Dabek posted a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 3 singles to tally the match clinching fourth point.
 
Wins by Kahatapitiya at No. 4 singles, Peter Lohrbach (So., Little Neck, N.Y.) at No. 2 and Sam Vagner (Fr., Staten Island, N.Y.) at No. 5 gave the Mids the 7-0 victory.
 
"It was great to see Andrew Hicks back in the lineup and earning our second point against St. Francis," said Garner.  "Andrew Ton and Derrick Thompson also played well in singles and doubles."
 
Navy now embarks on a busy trip to Southern California at the start of spring break.  The Mids will play a pair of matches on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
