Song Ties Patriot League Record with Eighth Career Pitcher of the Week Honor

Song has now been name Patriot League Pitcher of the Week four times in 2019

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Noah Song (Sr., Claremont, Calif.) earned his eighth career Patriot League Pitcher of the Week honor on Tuesday afternoon, which tied him with Army's Nick Hill for most Patriot League Pitcher of the Week honors in a career.

Along with his eighth career league pitcher of the week nod, Song earns his fourth Patriot League Pitcher of the Week honor of the season. He and Jared Leins (So., Raleigh, N.C.) have represented Navy as league pitchers of the week this season.

This past weekend, Song went 6-1/3 innings against Lehigh to grab his seventh win of the season and he has now earned the win in his sixth-straight start. In the victory, Song allowed just one run on five hits and four walks. The senior struck out 11 batters to reach 110 strikeouts this season. Song is currently the only pitcher in NCAA Division I with at least 100 strikeouts this season.

On the year, Song has a 1.53 ERA and is holding opponents to just a .170 batting average in nine starts. Along with leading the nation in strikeouts, Song leads the country with 16.78 strikeouts per nine innings and is second with four complete games. In the wins category, Song's seven victories are third in the nation behind only Kaven Brown of Eastern Kentucky and Alec Marsh of Arizona State who have eight wins apiece.

Michael Coritz (Jr., Clifton, Va.) earned an honorable mention player of the week nod this week for the Midshipmen. Last week, Coritz went 8-for-18 at the plate and had three multi-hit games. The junior also hit his first career home run at Navy in an 8-4 victory at Mount St. Mary's.

Navy is back in action on Tuesday night as it hosts Georgetown in its first night game at Terwilliger Brothers Field at Max Bishop Stadium. First pitch is at 6 p.m.
