ANNAPOLIS, Md. - After checking off the boxes of winning the Star Meet, All-Academy Championship, USAG Collegiate Championship and ECAC Championship, the Navy men's gymnastics has one final goal in mind, breaking through with a top-10 result at the 2019 NCAA Championship. The team will have a chance starting Friday afternoon at the University of Illinois to reach that final landmark. Seeded tenth in the 12-team national field, the Mids will be taking to the floor at the State Farm Center as part of Session 1 of the Qualifying Meet alongside No. 2 Stanford, No. 3 Michigan, No. 6 Minnesota, No. 7 Nebraska and No. 11 California beginning at 2 p.m. ET (1 p.m.-local). This is the fourth straight year that Navy will be participating in the national championship event. The top-three finishing teams from each of the two qualifying sessions (7 p.m. ET is the other) and select individuals will advance to compete in Saturday's championship finals at 7 p.m.
The University of Illinois will be providing live stats throughout the two-day event. The NCAA will host live video through its championship season video portal on Friday before Saturday's championship and event finals move to television and the Big Ten Network.
The top-three all-around competitors not on one of the top-three qualifying teams from the session, plus the top-three individuals on each event not already qualified on a team or as an all-around competitor, will advance from Friday's qualifying round to Saturday's finals.
