CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - In the Patriot League's second weekly awards announcement of the 2019 season, the Navy women's crew program was once again recognized as its first varsity eight crew repeated as the conference's Boat of the Week. The Mids were honored for their efforts at the Doc Hosea Invitational on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J. this past Saturday.
Taking on a 12-team field that included six squads in the the USRowing/CRCA top-20 or just outside in the receiving votes section, Navy's first varsity eight was strong throughout the day as it finished second in its heat in a time of 6:43.69, qualifying for the ensuing Grand Final.
Seeded fifth overall, the Mids improved their standing in the grand final by cutting 1.19 seconds off its heat time for a 6:42.50 that placed fourth ahead of Penn (6:47.87) and Northeastern (6:52.29), both teams that are also receiving votes along with the Mids. Buoyed by the V8's effort, Navy finished fourth in the team point standings with 84 points.

The Mids will host a home contest for the first time since 2012 when they welcome Georgetown and Lehigh for a tri-meet this coming Saturday. The teams are set to hit the Severn River beginning at 8:30 a.m.
