Song Earns Record Ninth League Honor and Sixth Career National Honor

Song was named the Patriot League Pitcher of the Week and National Player of the Week

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Noah Song (Sr., Claremont, Calif.) broke the Patriot League record for most Patriot League Pitcher of the Week accolades in a career with his ninth career honor this week. He was also selected as a National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball for the sixth time in his career.

Song's nine career pitcher of the week recognitions surpass Army's Nick Hill who earned eight nods during his career from 2004-07. This season, Song has been the Patriot League Pitcher of the Week five times and has earned the award in back-to-back weeks for the second time this year. On the national level, Song picked up his fourth player of the week nod from Collegiate Baseball this season and sixth of his career.

Last week, Song threw a one-hit, complete-game shutout against rival Army in a 3-0 victory. The lone hit he allowed was a bunt single to start the game and he then had a stretch of 14-straight batters retired. Song faced 24 batters in the seven-inning game allowing just one hit and walking a pair while allowing just four balls that were put in play to leave the infield. The senior finished the game with eight strikeouts and he sealed the shutout by striking out the side in the seventh inning.

Song's victory last weekend now ties him with Chuck Davis (1959-61) for most career wins with 29. He is also second all-time -- just one behind Davis -- for most career shutouts with eight.

On the season, Song leads the country with 118 strikeouts, along with 16.09 strikeouts per nine innings and he has a record of 8-0 in 10 starts. He is one of nine players tied for the most wins in the country at eight. After allowing Army to hit just .048 at the plate, Song has lowered his opponent batting average to .158 and now has an ERA of 1.36. The Claremont, Calif., native is also leading the NCAA with five complete games in 2019.

Song is now just three strikeouts away from tying his career-best for strikeouts in a season, which he last year with 121 and is also the Patriot League record for most strikeouts in a season.

Navy is back in action on Wednesday afternoon against George Mason as the Midshipmen travel to Fairfax, Va., for their final midweek game of the season.
