CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - For the second consecutive week, freshman runner
Elizabeth Sullivan (Portsmouth, R.I.) was selected by the Patriot League as the conference's Female Cross Country Rookie of the Week. She earned this honor for her performance at the Harry Lang Invitational this past Saturday in Hamilton, N.Y.
Competing on a 4.8k course on the campus of Colgate University, Sullivan spearheaded the Mids' effort on Saturday as she crossed the finish line in third place, while the team placed third in a field of seven programs. In a field of 90 runners, she finished third overall with a time of 17:24.4, while being the was the top-finishing freshmen in the race.
In the team standings, Boston University captured the title with 26 team points. Syracuse and Navy were close together in second and third place as the Orange recorded 53 points, while the Mids finished with 64.
Sullivan and her Midshipmen teammates will continue early-season action with the program's lone home meet of 2019, the annual Navy Invitational this coming Saturday. Hosted by Navy at the USNA Cross Country Course, the women's race is scheduled for a 9:00 a.m. start on Saturday, Sept. 14.
