ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Navy women's lacrosse head coach Cindy Timchal announced that rising seniors Caroline Kwon (Cooksville, Md.) and Marina Lazarides (Westminster, Md.) will be team captains for the 2021 campaign. Kwon will serve as the defensive captain, while Lazarides will captain the offense.
 
"I am very honored and humbled to be team captain for the 2021 season," Kwon said. "It is a true privilege to represent Navy women's lacrosse and the strong women that embody this program. We are excited for the new challenges and opportunities of this upcoming season. We not only want to make up for the time that got cut short, but also play for our graduated seniors that won't get another chance to step out onto the field with us. We are hungry to get back to work and continue our success throughout this next year."

"The way last season ended was disappointing, but it makes us all even more fired up about the upcoming season. The opportunity to lead our hardworking and resilient team is inspiring, and I am looking forward to getting back out on the field with them soon."
 
Kwon is a starter on defense for the Midshipmen. She has played in 23 games, making 18 starters, including starting 15 of 16 games in 2019. Kwon has picked up 14 ground balls, while causing 10 turnovers and winning a draw control.
 
Lazarides earned a starting role during the 2020 season, which was cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic. She has played in 35 career games with eight starts to her credit. Lazarides has netted 24 goals with 10 assists for 34 total points. She has picked up 20 ground balls, while causing 20 turnovers and winning four draw controls.
