POWELL'S POINT, N.C. — The Navy men's golf team concluded its fall season on Tuesday by placing 14th at the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate. The Mids covered the par-71 Kilmarlic Golf Course with a 54-hole, 30-over par 882 (294-284-304).
Team captain Chad Deegan (Sr / Newport Beach, Calif.) paced the Mids after shooting par (75-65-73=213) and finishing just a stroke out of 12th place. Junior Braxton Tracy, a native North Carolinian, led a trio of Mids who tied for 59th with an 11-over par 224 (74-76-74). Keegan Shreves (Jr / Potomac, Md.) (72-73-79=224) and Nicholas Klock (Sr / Moraga, Calif.) (74-72-78=224) also placed 59th, while newcomer Noah Nuez (Fr / Laveen, Ariz.) rounded out the squad in 76th with a 16-over par 229 (74-74-81).
Navy Extras
• Deegan shot a 6-under par 65 in Tuesday's second round. It ties as the fourth-lowest round vs. par in program history, while it's the fourth-lowest 18-hole total in school history.
• Both Deegan and Nicholas Klock have shot low rounds this fall that rank among Navy's top four all-time. Klock shot a 9-under par 62 in the final round of the Georgetown Intercollegiate two weeks prior to win individual medalist honors.
• While Deegan was just one stroke out of 12th place, nine players shot a 1-under par 212 to push him to 21st.
• Deegan made a tournament-high tying 16 pars over the three days, along with Drake's Tim Lim.
Tournament Notes
• Delaware, who had three players finish among the top 10, won the tournament title by 3 strokes over Drexel (281-278-283=842) with its 13-under par 839 (278-278-283).
• Drexel's Drue Nicholas earned individual medalist honors with his 12-under par 201. Nicholas shot rounds of 6-under, 5-under and 1-under en route to capturing the title by 4 strokes over Delaware's Roberto Nieves (68-70-67=205).
