The Navy men's golf team finished seventh out of 16 teams at the 54-hole UConn Invitational at GreatHorse played Sunday through Tuesday. The Mids covered the par 72 GreatHorse course with a 34-over par 898 (296-305-297) where golfers were met with tough playing conditions, including rain. The Mids finished two strokes ahead of eighth-place Sacred Heart (297-295-308=900), three better than Long Island U. (302-306-293=901) and six in front of 10th-place Columbia (295-307-302=904).
Returning First-Team All-Patriot League standout
Keegan Shreves (Jr / Potomac, Md.) paced the Mids with his 7-over par 223 (72-75-76) to tie for 20th, while team captain
Chad Deegan (Sr / Newport Beach, Calif.) put together a strong third round to finish a stroke behind Shreves in 24th with his 224 (76-76-72). Rookie
Andrew Wilkinson (Fr / Ashland, Va.) placed 36th with a 10-over par 226 (72-78-76), followed by
Nicholas Klock (Sr / Moraga, Calif.) (76-78-74) and
David Miccoli (Sr / Ludlow, Mass.) (77-76-75) in 47th at a 12-over par 228.

Andrew Wilkinson paved the way for the Mids in birdies with 7, while
Nicholas Klock had 7 and
Keegan Shreves had 6.

Chad Deegan made par on 38 of the 54 holes, the fourth most behind leaders Jared Nelson of UConn, John Heckel Jr. of Army and Rick Van Der Nat of Rider who had 39 apiece.
• As a team, Navy had the second-best aggregate score in par 4s at +21, while Rhode Island paced the field at +21.
Tournament Notes
• Rhode Island won the tournament title by two strokes over Connecticut (292-297-288=877) with its 11-over par 877 (282-293-300)
• Connecticut's Caleb Manuel blistered the field to earn individual medalist honors with his 11-under par 205. Manuel shot a 5-under par 67 in the final round to break the tie with Iona's Justin Burkhamer who finished second with a 5-under par 211.
Navy will be back in action next Sunday and Monday when it competes at the Georgetown Intercollegiate played at the Four Streams Golf Course in Beallsville, Md.
