ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy rowing program will have two thirds of its fleet in action this weekend as the heavyweight and lightweight teams will continue fall competition at the 2021 Princeton Chase on Sunday morning. Starting with the Men's Heavyweight Eights event at 9 a.m., the Navy contingent will have six heavyweight crews in action, while the lightweights will race on Lake Carnegie in three separate events beginning with the Lightweight Eights contest at 9:30 a.m. All of the racing on Sunday will be in the head style format on a three-mile stretch of water in Princeton, N.J.

Across the heavyweight, lightweight and women's races that are scheduled for Lake Carnegie on Sunday, 23 different colleges will be in action at the Princeton Chase with 240 individual boats registered for competition. With six boats in their 9 a.m. race, the Mids' heavyweight team will go up against schools such as Drexel, Holy Cross, Penn, Princeton, Saint Joseph's, Syracuse, Wisconsin and Yale. In total, there are 41 boats racing in the Men's Heavyweight Eights contest. The 9:30 a.m. Men's Lightweight Eights race has 23 boats representing six different schools, Cornell, Delaware, Harvard, Navy, Penn and Princeton. The lightweights will race again over two hours later at 12:00 p.m. in the Men's Eights Round 2. Navy's top lightweight crew will get a second chance to put together a three-mile piece against an open field of 15 crews from the heavyweight and lightweight divisions. The Men's Fours competition at 12:35 p.m. will close Navy's day of action with a pair of four-man crews entered in an open field of 31 boats.

Navy most recently competed at the Princeton Chase in 2019. Sunday will mark the conclusion of the 2021 fall season for the heavyweight program, while the lightweights will race one more time next Saturday, Nov. 13 at the UVA Fall Classic.
