BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Patriot League announced its women's lacrosse athletes of the week on Monday afternoon and Navy's
Ellie Lecker (Ponte Vedra, Fla.) and
Christine Fiore (Darien, Conn.) were named Attacker and Defender of the Week, respectively. The duo helped lead Navy to a 10-8 victory over Mount St. Mary's on Saturday, improving the Midshipmen to 2-0 on the season.
Navy returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 27, as the Midshipmen make their first road trip of the season, traveling to our nation's capital to play George Washington. Opening draw is slated for 1:00 p.m.
Attacker of the Week: Ellie Lecker
Scored a career-high four goals, marking the senior's first career hat trick … Three of her four goals broke ties with the Mount, including the game-winning goal … Scored her third goal of the game to give her the hat trick with seven ticks remaining in the first half … Tied 8-8, scored her fourth and final goal, providing the game-winning goal … In addition, won three of Navy's 10 draws.
Defender of the Week: Christine Fiore
Helped anchor the Navy defense, who posted its second consecutive game of limiting an opponent to under double-digit goals … Picked up a team-high six ground balls against Mount St. Mary's, which was one GB shy of her career total heading into the game … Also added a pair of caused turnovers … Aided in facilitating the offense, helping Navy to 18 clears on the day.
