BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Joe Simourian (Jr., Andover, Mass.) and Eduardo Diaz (Fr., Miami, Fla.) were both recognized by the Patriot League with its weekly honors, the conference announced on Tuesday afternoon. Simourian was selected as the Patriot League Player of the Week, while Diaz was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week.
 
The Navy duo both earn their recognitions for the first time in their careers, however, this is the second time Simourian has earned a weekly award by the league after he was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week in April 2019.
 
Simourian helped the Midshipmen to its 7-2 win over Coppin State to start the season on Sunday as he finished the game going 2-for-4 at the plate with both of his hits being triples. Simourian also drove in a pair of runs for Navy hitting in the leadoff spot. Simourian slugged 1.500 for the game and had a .600 on-base percentage after walking once in his five plate appearances against the Eagles.
 
In the win over the weekend, Diaz – who made his collegiate debut at second base – finished the day going 1-for-3 at the dish and scored one run as the No. 2 hitter. Diaz's lone hit was a double and he reached base at a .600 clip after being hit once and walking once in his five appearances. The freshman also swiped a base while recording three assists and a putout for the Midshipmen.
 
Along with Diaz and Simourian earning weekly recognitions, Tommy Goodridge (Sr., San Diego, Calif.) was selected as an honorable mention this week after he tossed three scoreless innings in relief. Goodridge led Navy with four strikeouts and he did not allow a hit during his outing.
 
The Midshipmen are back in action on Wednesday afternoon as they host Coppin State at 2 p.m.
