BETHLEHEM, Pa. –– Navy volleyball players Maddi Sgattoni (Sr., Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Maggie Bodman (Fr., Northbrook, Ill.) earned accolades from the Patriot League on Wednesday.  Each player received second-team all-league honors and Bodman also was named the league's rookie of the year.

The awards were presented after voting by the league's head coaches.

Sagttoni earned the third all-league accolade of her career.  She previously was named to the league's first team in 2018 and to the second team in 2019.  

"I couldn't be happier for Maddi," said Navy head coach Paco Labrador.  "The Patriot League produces a lot of great and elite volleyball players each year, and for Maddi to be an all-league recipient three times is something to be really proud of."

Sgattoni is the second Mid during the program's Division I era (since 1991) to lead the team in kills in each of her four seasons.  This year, her team-high mark of 2.86 kills per set ranked 10th in the league.  Sgattoni also ranked second on the Navy team with an average of 2.95 digs per set.  She recorded at least 10 kills in four matches this season and grabbed at least 10 digs in all five matches this year.

Bodman is the seventh Mid to be selected as the top rookie (freshman) in the league and is the first to receive the laurel since Alex Karika in 2012.

"Maggie put up some tremendous numbers in our matches this season," said Labrador.  "But what really makes her special is her play-making abilities on the out of the ordinary moments during play.  She made some beautiful digs, sets and saves in key moments."

Bodman led all Patriot League players with an average of 1.09 blocks per set and ranked third in the league with a .361 hitting percentage.  She also stood third on the Navy team with an average of 2.14 kills per set after having produced at least 10 kills in three of the team's five matches this season.
