Navy vs. George Washington
The Mids and Colonials have been frequent combatants in regular season action as George Washington has recently been joining as a guest team in the Stevenson Cup competition between Navy and Columbia. At the 2019 competition on May 5 at Mercer Lake, Navy placed first with a time of 6:06.4, while George Washington and Columbia finished in a near dead-heat at 6:09.2 with the Colonials edging the Lions by three feet in a photo finish. Navy's 2V, 3V and 4V also defeated George Washington's entries as the Mids went 4-0 on the day.
Navy vs. Princeton
Two of the top programs year-in, year-out in the Eastern Sprints league, the Mids and Tigers started racing each other back in 1913. In the teams' most recent meeting on April 6, 2019 at Lake Carnegie, the host Tigers defeated the Mids, 5:46.1 to 5:56.5.
Last Time Out vs. #6 Boston University ~ April 25
Racing in a head-to-head format for the first time since 1989, the Mids and Terriers each earned a win in 2V and 3V action before the first varsity eight crews closed the competition last Sunday in Overpeck Park with a back-and-forth duel that saw Boston edge Navy late by less than a second. In the first varsity event, Navy's top boat broke out early with a fast start and had an approximate four-seat lead on BU within the first minute of racing. The Mids continued revving high and cleared the Terriers prior to reaching the midway mark. Navy held its lead over Boston deep into the race before the Terriers unleashed a torrid sprint to the finish line to earn the come-from-behind 0.8-second win. The final times for the first varsities were 6:17.38 for BU and 6:18.18 for Navy.
