Diego Fagot Named Preseason Third-Team All-American by Phil Steele; Five Navy Players Named All-American Athletic Conference

ANNAPOLIS, Md.—Navy senior linebacker Diego Fagot has been named a Third-Team Preseason All-American by Phil Steele's College Football Preview Magazine.

Fagot, who was named Second-Team All-AAC last year and First-Team All-AAC in 2019, has recorded 188 career tackles in his first three years, leading the Mids in stops in both 2019 and 2020.

Fagot started all 13 games in 2019, recording 100 tackles, 12 tackles for a loss and 5.5 sacks. Last year, Fagot started all nine games he played in while coming up with 72 tackles, 11 tackles for a loss and three sacks.

Fagot was one of four Navy defensive players named to Steele's preseason All-AAC team. Fagot was named to the first team, while senior cornerback Michael McMorris (third team), sophomore nose guard Donald Berniard Jr. (fourth team) and senior safety Kevin Brennan (fourth team) were also named.

Junior kicker Bijan Nichols was named to the fourth team.

According to Steele, Navy will play the third toughest schedule in the FBS in 2021 based on opponent winning percentage from the previous year. Navy's 12 opponents this year went a combined 72-42 (.632) last year. Only Arkansas (.644) and UMass (.644) have a tougher schedule based on opponent winning percentage.
