ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) honored three members of the Navy women's tennis team for their academic achievements during the past school year, the organization announced Monday.
 
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, individuals must have a grade-point average of at least a 3.50 for the complete 2020-21 academic year.
 
Seniors Brooke Bogdanovich (Suwanee, Ga.) and Miranda Deng (North Potomac, Md.) earned the honor for the second time in their respective careers while sophomore Jillian Taggart (Fair Oaks, Calif.) tallied her second ITA Scholar-Athlete award.
 
In addition to being named an ITA Scholar-Athlete twice, Bogdanovich and Deng have been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll in each of the last three years while Taggart was named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team on May 21.
 
On the court, Deng finished tied with a team-high seven doubles victories while playing primarily at the No. 1 position in doubles. The senior finished 6-3 in doubles while going 7-4 overall. In singles, she finished tied for third on the team with six wins.
 
Along with her efforts in the classroom, Taggart was named to the All-Patriot League First team for Navy. She played in nine singles matches and nine doubles matches at the No. 1 position each time. In singles, Taggart recorded a 4-5 record and went 2-1 in Patriot League matches.
 
The Midshipmen finished the 2021 season with a 7-4 overall record along with a 3-2 mark in conference play. Navy also made its seventh appearance in the Patriot League Championship match in the program's 12th season.
