In his collegiate debut, Drake turned in four successful routines at the West Point Open. In three of his four routines in the team portion of the event on Friday night, Drake placed in the top-10, as he ranked seventh on the high bar with a 13.05 score, eighth on the pommel horse after earning a 12.95 result and tenth with 14.1 points on the vault. These are the first two ECAC weekly honors for the Navy men's gymnastics team in 2022. Individually, this is the third weekly honor in Williams' career as he was selected as the ECAC Specialist on Jan. 29, 2020 and a year earlier the ECAC Rookie of the Week on Jan. 29, 2019.
The Mids will continue early season action as they host the 2022 Navy Open on Saturday. The competition will serve as the home opener for Navy, as well as the debut of the Mids' new facility across campus in Halsey Fieldhouse. First touch is scheduled at 2 p.m. for the multi-team event.
