"I think that I can speak for all involved to say that this event was an unbelievable experience," said head coach
Keith Puryear. "In regard to competition, it gave us the opportunity to compete with schools that we do not see on a regular basis. As a team, we competed extremely well all weekend, highlighted by Emily's tournament MVP award. The things we experienced this weekend will go far to help us continue to learn and grow as a team."
"But it was also the opportunity to meet Naval Academy alumni and to hear their stories and learn about the journey they are about to undertake as Navy and Marine officers. To see our tennis alumni who came out in force, we are so very proud of the things they are accomplishing in their careers and it was great for both current and graduated team members to be able to meet and bond. For me, that was a particularly special moment from this weekend. I would like to thank each of them for coming out and showing their support."
"It takes many to make an event of this magnitude happen. We owe a debt of gratitude to Chas Mulcahy, his daughter Beth Ann, Alan and Megan Camaisa and their family, the USD coaches and athletic department for setting this event up, all the members of the SDVTC committee, Linda Milan and the Soc Cal Tennis Association Foundation, and lastly the USNA Alumni Association San Diego Chapter and everyone else who played a part in assisting in the running of the event."
Navy returns to action on Oct. 20-24 at the ITA Atlantic Regionals, being hosted by Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va.
