ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy baseball team announced its 2023 schedule on Tuesday, headlined by 27 home games and seven contests against 2021 NCAA Tournament participants.

Entering the program's 18th season under head coach Paul Kostacopoulos, the Midshipmen will open the 49-game regular season slate at the Hughes Bros. Challenge in Wilmington, N.C. Navy starts the campaign on Friday, Feb. 17 against a Virginia team that is ranked No. 20 in Baseball America's Never Too Early Top 25. That is followed by the Mids' first-ever meeting with Ohio on Feb. 18 before closing out the opening weekend on Feb. 19 against host UNCW.

Feb. 21 marks the Mids' home opener, as Navy welcomes Georgetown to Terwilliger Brothers Field at Max Bishop Stadium for the first midweek contest of the season. Navy then travels to Kinston, N.C. for the 13th annual Freedom Classic, battling defending Mountain West champion and rival service academy Air Force in a three-game series from Feb. 24-26.

The Mids stay home for 15 of their 19 games in March, starting with a March 1 contest against reigning MEAC champion Coppin State and a three-game slate with UMass (March 4-5). A quick road trip to Georgetown on March 8 precedes another three-game home series against Princeton (March 11-12), while Navy will spend spring break traveling to Delaware State (March 14) and Penn State (March 15).

Patriot League play opens with Bucknell coming to Annapolis, as the Bison and Mids will play four games in three days (March 17-19). Navy then welcomes Lafayette (March 25) and Lehigh (March 26) for a pair of league doubleheaders, before ending the month on March 29 with a non-conference game at UMBC.

April begins with the Mids on the road, playing a twin-bill at Holy Cross on April 1 before trekking to West Point, N.Y. for an April 2 doubleheader against defending league champion and historic rival Army. Another midweek meeting with Coppin State on April 5 sees Navy return to Annapolis, with the Mids staying at Bishop Stadium for a three-game set against Holy Cross (April 8-9) to start the back-half of the Patriot League schedule.

A five-game road stretch begins on April 12 in Salisbury with Maryland Eastern Shore, followed by three games at Lafayette (April 15-16) and the final game in the season series with Bucknell on April 19 in Lewisburg, Pa.

Navy hosts Army for three games April 22-23 with a star up for grabs in the 2022-23 Star Series presented USAA, while Maryland Eastern Shore completes the home-and-home series with a trip to Annapolis on April 26. April closes with the Mids playing a three-game set at Lehigh (April 29-30) in Bethlehem, Pa.

The regular season ends with three non-conference games at home, as Navy and George Mason will match up on May 3 before the Mids host Elon in a marquee two-game series, May 6-7, pitting the Mids and Phoenix against each other for the first time on the diamond.
