ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy women's tennis team (6-0) will return to play over the weekend as it takes on George Washington (1-2) Saturday at the Tose Family Tennis Center, prior to hitting the road Sunday for a bout against Delaware (2-1).
The Midshipmen will take on the Colonials at 5 p.m. on Saturday, followed by a 3 p.m. match against the Blue Hens on Sunday. Free, live statistics of both competitions will be available via NavySports.com.
COVID-19 POLICIES
As per Department of Defense regulations, those who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 must wear a face mask at all times when on the grounds of the Brigade Sports Complex. Those who have been vaccinated have the option to wear a mask while outdoors, but must wear a mask while indoors.
Per the Delaware Athletics COVID-19 policy, fans who are not feeling well or who are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status, should stay home. Additionally, masks are required for all attendees over the age of two and the mask must be worn at all times.
ALL-TIME SERIES
In 10 all-time meetings between the two programs, George Washington holds a narrow 6-4 edge over the Midshipmen. However, Navy has won each of its last two matches against the Colonials, along with having a 3-1 record over the last four contests. In a series that dates back to the 2011 season, the Mids have tallied an 8-2 advantage over Delaware that includes winning three-straight matches and eight of the last nine meetings.
LAST TIME OUT
Last time out, Navy swept a doubleheader against Georgetown and Saint Joseph's to extend its season-opening win streak to six-straight matches. The Mids opened the day with a 6-1 win over the Hoyas, followed by a 7-0 victory against the Hawks. Navy was led on the day by
Emily Tannenbaum (Fr., Commack, N.Y.) who tallied three wins on the day, highlighted by a No. 1 singles win (6-4, 6-2) over Saint Joseph's Amanda Nava.

SCOUTING THE MIDSHIPMEN
STARTING STRONG: Following its doubleheader sweep of Georgetown and Saint Joseph's last time out, Navy improved to a perfect 6-0 on the season. The six-match win streak to open the spring dual season marks the second-best start for the Midshipmen in program history, trailing only the 2012 Navy women's tennis team who opened the season with 11-straight victories.
Over that six-game win streak, the Mids have a 33-3 record in singles matches that includes a 5-1 mark at the No. 1 position. In doubles competition, Navy has a stellar 17-1 record as a team, led by the duo of
Kacey Moore (Sr., Wellington, Fla.) and
Jillian Taggart (Jr., Fair Oaks, Calif.) who have two victories at the No. 1 spot.
LEADING THE CHARGE: Leading the way for the Midshipmen in singles play is Tannenbaum who has a team-best mark of 14-6 this season with a 4-0 mark in dual action. Taggart ranks second on the team in singles wins (12) followed by the duo of Moore and
Corinne Farid (So., Columbia, Mo.) who have 11 singles victories apiece.
TOP-TANDEMS: In addition to the contributions from the doubles team of Moore and Taggart,
Katreina Corpuz (Sr., Ewa Beach, Hawai'i) and
Meghana Komarraju (Sr., Vienna, Va.) have teamed up to total a 3-0 record in dual action. The pairings of
Sylvia Eklund (Fr., Bellevue, Washington) and
Kate Lee along with Faird and
Casey Accola (Jr., Winter Garden, Fla.) are tied for the team lead in doubles wins with three.
RECORD CHECK: With a victory at the No. 3 singles position against Georgetown, Moore moved into a tie for the eighth-most singles wins in program history (60) with Kaylah Hodge (2016-20) and Josie Rogers (2015-18). Next up for Moore is Ansofi Wreder (2016-19) with 62 career wins while Erin Snook (2010-14) is the Mids all-time singles wins leader with 90.

SCOUTING THE COLONIALS
LAST TIME OUT: Last time out, George Washington fell to Maryland, 7-0, in a match held in College Park. The Colonials were swept in doubles play, followed pushing four of their six singles matches to three sets where they were ultimately swept in the shutout victory for the Terrapins.
TOP PERFORMERS: In singles competition this season, Stella Wiesemann leads the way with a 9-4 record from the No. 1 position, followed by Alexis Nelson who has also totaled nine victories this season from the No. 2 spot. In doubles, the pairing of Nelson and Lindsay Thompson have posted an 8-0 mark from the No. 2 position while Wiesemann and Sarah Bodewes have five wins from the No. 1 spot.

LAST TIME OUT: Delaware is coming off a 5-2 victory over George Washington last time out. The Blue Hens swept all three doubles matches to take the doubles point over the Colonials, followed by taking four of the singles matches in straight sets to earn the three-point victory.
TOP PERFORMERS: Leading the charge for Delaware in singles competition this season is Julieta Honrubia who has a 9-4 record including a 1-2 mark in dual action. Eliza Askarova has an 8-6 mark in singles play including a 2-1 record from the No. 1 position. In doubles play, Isabella Montana and Samantha Svendsen have gotten off to a fast start with a 2-0 record.
