DANBURY, Conn. - Coming off of its second straight victory over service academy foes, the Navy gymnastics team was rewarded on Wednesday with a pair of ECAC weekly honors. The freshmen duo of
Riley Rose (Las Vegas, Nev.) and
Isaiah Drake (Los Angeles, Calif.) were selected as the conference's Specialist and Rookie of the Week for their respective efforts at Saturday's All-Academy Championship in Frisco, Texas.
A regular in Navy's high bar lineup throughout the team's first five competitions, Rose found himself tied for top billing on the apparatus with a 13.05 score on Saturday. For the second straight meet, Rose recorded the same score as his teammate Drake as they tied with matching 13.3 scores the previous week against Army. A first-time award-winner in terms of ECAC weekly honors, Rose currently ranks 22nd in the nation for his work on the high bar as he has a 13.083 average.
