ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy men's tennis team lost one match on the day in posting victories over Fairleigh Dickinson and Villanova, Sunday at the Tose Family Tennis Center in Annapolis.  The Mids (11-3) first defeated the Knights (3-3) by the score of 6-1, then posted a 7-0 win over the Wildcats (1-4).

Navy won a pair of 6-3 decisions to earn the doubles point against Fairleigh Dickinson.  Luke Garner (Fr., Arnold, Md.) and Sasha Panyan (So., Lutherville, Md.) combined for a win at No. 3 doubles, with the Mids securing the point with a victory by Finn Garner (Jr., Arnold, Md.) and Gavin Segraves (Jr., Charlottesville, Va.) at the No. 1 flight.

Navy's five singles wins against FDU came in straight sets, with the one loss coming in a third set.

The top half of the singles lineup saw Segraves lose just one game in defeating Moric Budinszky at No. 2 singles and Jake Fishkin (Sr., Baltimore, Md.) register a 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 win over Arjun Sriram at the No. 3 flight.  Also, Jack Dabek (Sr., Dublin, Ohio) defeated Fernando Tardin, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 4, Luke Garner tallied a 6-2, 6-1 win over Aryan Manchanda at No. 5 and Sam Vagner (Sr., Staten Island, N.Y.) won a 6-0, 7-5 match from Niclas Pietsch.

Navy opened its match against Villanova with a 6-2 victory by its No. 1 team of Dabek and Finn Garner.  The point was secured when Luke Garner and Panyan combined for a 6-3 win at the No. 3 flight.  In the remaining match at No. 2, Jack McBride (Sr., Chapel Hill, N.C.) and Derrick Thompson (Sr., Towson, Md.) defeated Michael Fourticq and Anthony Prokurat by the score of 7-5.

McBride made the score 2-0 when the opponent in his No. 3 singles match, Alex Kim, had to retire with McBride leading 4-0 in the first set.  Thompson soon followed with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Joshua Robinson at the No. 1 flight.  A 6-3, 6-0 victory at No. 2 singles by Segraves over Fourticq clinched the overall match for Navy.

Conners O'Brien (Sr., Rensselaer, N.Y.) would defeat Prokurat, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 5, Panyan posted a 6-3, 7-5 win in his No. 4 match against Matthew Jones and Cy McLeod (Fr., Augusta, Ga.) won a 5-7, 6-1, 1-0 (10-7) decision over Noah Winton at No. 6 to close out play for the day.

"Doubles went well for our numbers one and three teams in both matches," said Navy head coach Chris Garner.  "In singles, Derrick played really well at number one and Gavin doubled up today to gain two wins at number two.  Jack McBride's singles match was cut short, but he looked sharp in that time.  Jake won a very physical match, as did Cy.

"Jack Dabek, Conners and Luke came out strong and never looked back to win straight-set matches.  Sasha and Sam handled the challenges they faced well to also win in straight sets."

Navy will be back in the Tose Family Tennis Center Saturday when the Mids play host to Morgan State and George Mason.
