ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Looking to get back to its winning ways, the Navy men's soccer team (5-5-3, 2-1-2 PL) is set to travel Wednesday afternoon to Washington, D.C., as the Midshipmen will play Patriot League foe American (3-4-4, 0-2-3 PL) in a 2 p.m. contest at Reeves Field.
 
The game, originally scheduled for Sept. 27 but postponed due to unplayable field conditions, features a rematch from the 2022 Patriot League Championship game, as both Navy and American are seeking to move up in the league standings and reach the postseason once again.
 
Veterans of the Patriot League
Since the start of the 2022 season, the Mids have posted a 7-2-8 record against Patriot League opponents, including a 5-2-7 mark in the regular season … Navy was undefeated in its last 10 matches against Patriot League schools before an Oct. 7 loss at Boston University, going 5-0-5 between Oct. 7, 2022 and Oct. 7, 2023 … Over three-plus seasons, the current Navy senior class has posted a 16-8-9 record against Patriot League competition … With 59 career points, senior standout David Jackson has accrued 28 of those points against Patriot League competition … Senior forward Baba Kallie has tallied 10 of his 25 career points against Patriot League teams with four goals and two assists … Fellow senior Jason Aoyama has had 15 of his 19 career points come against league foes.
 
League Leaders
Navy enters the week with a Patriot League-leading 21 goals and 164 shots on the season, while the team's 1.692 scoring average ranks second in the league … Jackson continues to be one of the league's best offensive players, ranking second in goals (8), assists (5) and points (21) … Sophomore Andrew Schug has also made a mark on the scoresheet, sitting third in the league with five total goals and sixth in the PL at 0.91 points per game … Fellow sophomore A.J. Schuetz ranks second in the league at 2.67 shots per game while standing fourth with 14 shots on goal … Junior goalkeeper Pierce Holbrook has a league-high 47 saves and is tied for third in the league with four shutouts.
 
Navy in the National Rankings
The Mids' 0.485 shot accuracy ranks 28th in the country, while Navy's 6.08 shots on goal per game sits 37th nationally … Navy also ranks 37th in Division I with a 0.385 shutout percentage … Jackson's 21 total points ranks 19th in the NCAA, with his 1.62 points per game ranking 21st … The eight goals from Jackson also ranks 24th in the country and his five assists are the 50th-most nationally … Holbrook's 47 saves stand as the 25th-most in the nation while his 1145:23 minutes played are the 39th-highest amount among Division I keepers.

The current Navy senior class have helped the Mids post a 28-18-14 overall record during their four years with the program … Navy is 8-0-2 over the past three seasons when Baba Kallie records a goal, 11-4-5 when David Jackson scores, 4-1-2 in games where Jason Aoyama registers a tally and 2-0-2 when Zach Wagner finds the net.
 
Last Time Out
The Mids used an early goal to post a 1-1 draw with rival Army on Friday night, as over 8,000 fans took in Army-Navy Cup XII … Using a header to put home Aoyama's cross, Jackson opened the scoring in the seventh minute with his eighth goal of the season … After Cooper Warren put a shot off the post in the 14th minute, Gage Lyons got the equalizer in the 25th minute off a rebound in the six-yard box … Schug nearly restored the Navy lead in the 51st minute when his shot that was labeled for the top-left corner was stopped by Harrison Faulkner and Jackson almost did the same when he had a free kick go off the crossbar in the 83rd minute, while Holbrook preserved the draw with a pair of saves in the final four minutes … Holbrook racked up nine saves, one shy of his career high, while Faulkner tallied five saves.

The Eagles have bounced back after struggling to earn their first of the season, as American is 3-2-3 since capturing a 4-1 win at Temple on Sept. 8 … After drawing with Holy Cross in their league opener, the Eagles picked up a 3-1 non-conference win over UMBC before falling to Boston University and posting draws against Bucknell and Lafayette … AU opened last week with a 2-1 upset win at N.C. State on Tuesday before dropping a 2-1 home contest to Colgate on Saturday … At 8.36 fouls per game, American commits the third-fewest fouls in Division I, while the team's 1.91 goals per game ranks 36th in the nation … Sam Hershey paces the Eagles with five goals, while Ethan Boyle ranks second on the team with four tallies … Taku Takahashi has racked up a team-best three assists … Matthew Tibbetts is the team leader with 26 saves, allowing just 11 goals in seven starts.
 
Series History
Navy is 13-15-9 in its all-time series with American, but have won the last two meetings … Navy is 4-11-5 when playing American in the nation's capital, with the Mids' last victory at Reeves Field coming in 2019 … Navy and American have played five times over the past three seasons, with both sides winning four contests after a 1-1 draw during the spring of 2021 … American won both meetings in the fall of 2021 at home, defeating Navy by a 3-1 score during the regular season and then winning a semifinal matchup, 4-2 … Navy returned the favor in 2022, as Jackson's penalty-kick goal gave the Mids a 1-0 win to end the regular season, while Schuetz's tally in the league finals capped off another 1-0 Navy win.
