Five Starting Notes
1 – Navy travels to Connecticut for a game for the first time in seven seasons.  The Mids last played in the state Dec. 22, 2016, when it lost at Hartford, 63-54.
2 – Quinnipiac last played host to a non-conference opponent from Maryland when the Mids played the Bobcats on Nov. 19, 2011.
3 – Navy is one of four Patriot League teams Quinnipiac is playing this season.  The Bobcats are the only MAAC team the Mids are playing this year.
4 – Navy led its foes in all five specialty statistics -- points after turnovers, points in the paint, second-chance points, fast break points and bench points -- in two games during the entire 2022-23 season.  The Mids have done so in each of their last three games.
5 – Austin Benigni converted a trio of three-point play opportunities (made basket + foul shot attempt) Tuesday at George Washington.  It was the third game of his career in which he has had multiple three-point play opportunities.  

Game Information
•    A stretch of four games in 10 days closes for the Mids (2-5) with a Friday (7 p.m.) game at Quinnipiac (6-2, 1-1 MAAC).

Last Game
•    Navy fell, 79-77 in overtime, at George Washington Tuesday night.
•    GW led, 21-10, but Navy tied the game at 25-25 before GW took a 33-28 lead at halftime.
•    The Revolutionaries led 39-28, then 45-41, then 55-43 with just over nine minutes left.
•    Navy closed to within 57-54, then were able to take its first lead at 65-64 with 33.4 seconds on the clock.
•    A free throw by GW with 24.3 seconds left was the last score of regulation.
•    Navy took a 67-66 lead early in overtime, then fell behind, 71-67.  The Mids soon took a 72-71 lead only to see GW build a 76-72 lead with 30 seconds left.
•    The GW lead went from 76-75 (16.2) to 78-75 (12.4) to 78-77 (8.2).  The Revolutionaries made one of two foul shots with 6.1 seconds left to take a 79-77 lead.  
•    Austin Inge's shot from the wing hit the rim, the backboard and the rim before falling to the ground.
•    Navy was 22-24 from the foul line (91.7%).
•    Five Mids scored in double figures.  Austin Benigni had 21 points, seven assists and five rebounds and Donovan Draper posted 19 points and 16 caroms.

About Quinnipiac
•    Quinnipiac compiled an overall record of 20-11 last season and tied for third place in the 11-team Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference with an 11-9 record.
•    The Bobcats placed fifth in this year's MAAC Preseason Poll.
•    Quinnipiac enters the game with a 6-2 record on the season and a 4-0 record in home games. 
•    The Bobcats began MAAC play with a 93-73 loss at Canisius and a 75-68 overtime win at Niagara.  

Navy-Quinnipiac Series
•    Navy and Quinnipiac can each claim one victory in the brief series between the teams.
•    Navy won the inaugural game in the series, a 65-62 win in Annapolis on Nov. 30, 2009.

Navy Bench Has Been a Strength 
•    The Mids have received an average of at least 20 points a game from their bench since the start of the 2020-21 campaign.

3-Point Percentage Low in Navy Games
•    Navy ranks seventh nationally in defensive three-point field goal percentage as opponents are shooting 25.3 percent from beyond the arc against the Mids. 
•    Navy ranks 345th (out of 351 teams) in the country in offensive three-point field goal percentage.  The Mids are making 24.5 percent of their three-point field goal attempts.

Rebounding – Overall
•    Navy has won the rebounding contest in 223 of the 368 games (60.6%) it has played under head coach Ed DeChellis.  The Mids have posted a very successful record (62.8%) during this time when they win the rebounding contest.
•    The Mids rank first in the Patriot League and 78th nationally with an average of 12.5 offensive rebounds per game.

Second-Chance Points 
•     Navy has scored more second-chance points than its foes in 182 of the 272 games (66.9%) it has played since the start of the 2014-15 season.  
•     27 of the 66 career points scored by Mike Woods have been second-chance points.
•    Navy has scored on 16 of the 35 career possessions in which Woods has grabbed an offensive rebound.

Navy Pace 
•    Navy traditionally has been one of the more deliberate teams in terms of possessions per game under head coach Ed DeChellis.  The Mids rank 300th this year with an average of 66.4 possessions a game.
