ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy women's tennis team notched a pair of 7-0 victories on Saturday to extend its winning streak to five-straight matches, defeating both Towson and Saint Joseph's in a dominant performance at the Tose Family Tennis Center.
With the doubleheader sweep, the Midshipmen improved their record to 5-2 overall this spring and 5-0 at home, while Towson and Saint Joseph's both moved to 0-1 after opening their dual-season schedules on Saturday. The Mids have now won three-straight matches by a 7-0 score after claiming last week's 7-0 contest against Morgan State.

Navy started to roll early in doubles play, as sophomores
Sylvia Eklund and
Kate Lee combined for their seventh win this season when they blanked the Towson duo of Lea Kosanovic and Sania Suchinsky, 6-0, on the No. 2 court, while junior
Corinne Farid and freshman
Ellie Choate linked up for the first time on the third court to pull out a 6-2 victory over the Tigers' Nadeen Shrebati and Sarah Pospischill.

Samantha Johns closed out the doubles competition by notching a 6-1 win against Antonia Lawson and Olivia Rothfield in the top spot.
Lee continued the momentum when she racked up her fifth-straight singles win with a 6-0, 6-0 effort against Erin Gray at the No. 4 spot, while freshman
Hanna Elks Smith tallied a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Sania Suchinsky in the No. 5 position. Accola and sophomore
Parvathi Shanker finished up their morning matches with Accola beating Rothfield on the No. 2 court, 6-0, 6-3, and Shanker defeating Kosanovic on the third court, 6-0, 6-3.
Rounding out the singles matches were sophomore
Emily Tannenbaum tallying a 6-1, 6-1 decision over Pospischill on the top court, and Choate edging out Lawson by a 6-4, 7-5 score on the No. 6 court.
Navy is now 12-0 all-time against Towson.
Saint Joseph's Recap
In the back half of the Saturday doubleheader, Navy opened with Farid and Shanker pairing together to defeat Ana Ocasio and Kirsten Wijnsema at the No. 2 position, 6-0, while Tannenbaum and junior
Samantha Johns were on the winning end of another 6-0 decision, knocking off Charlotte Kordonowy and Stow Wiess on the No. 1 court.
Finishing off doubles was the No. 3 duo of Smith and junior
Stella Ribaudo coming up with a 6-3 win against the Hawks' sister pairing of Ireland and Sophia Amato.
Singles play saw Tannenbaum make quick work of Weiss with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at the top spot and Ribaudo followed suit with her own 6-2, 6-0 win against the No. 2 Saint Joseph's player, Anna Kirk. Eklund made her first singles appearance of the day with a 6-2, 6-3 winning effort over Fabiana Tort-Umpierre on the third court, clinching the dual-match win for Navy, while Shanker added to the lead with her fourth-straight singles wins, knocking off Sophia Amato at the No. 4 spot, 6-2, 6-4.
In the final matches of the day, Smith battled Emily Elliott to a 6-2, 6-3 win on the No. 5 court, while Farid beat Ireland Amato by a 6-4, 6-2 score at the No. 6 position.
The all-time series shifted to 10-1 in favor of Navy, with the Mids picking up their eighth-straight dual win over the Hawks.
