Box Score 1 ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy men's tennis team (10-13) opened its spring break trip to Southern California with a 5-0 loss to Westcliff (6-2) in Irvine on Tuesday.
Additionally, the Mids held a 1-0 lead over UC Riverside before the match had to be abandoned due to rain.
Westcliff posted victories at Nos. 1 and 3 doubles to take a 1-0 lead. The Warriors would win four straight-set singles matches to record the victory.
Navy's
Nathan Nguyen (Fr., McLean, Va.) held a 6-4, 2-1 lead in his No. 3 singles match when it was halted due to the Warriors clinching the match.
Navy and UC Riverside played their six singles matches first on Tuesday.
Sasha Panyan (Jr., Lutherville, Md.) posted a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles to account for the lone point of the match.
Navy also led in four other matches when play was stopped.
Gavin Segraves (Sr., Charlottesville, Va.) was up, 6-4, 3-2, at No. 2, J.J. Eetterbeek (Fr., Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) held a 6-4, 2-2 lead at No. 4,
Aniketh Ayinala (Fr., Charlotte, N.C.) led, 7-5, 4-1, at No. 5 and
Matthew McNair (Fr., Annapolis, Md.) was leading, 6-2, 4-4, at No. 6.
