ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- After narrowly winning the doubles point, the Navy (13-17, 2-0) men's tennis team won each of the singles matches against Lehigh (8-7, 2-1) to post a 7-0 victory Saturday at the Tose Family Tennis Center in Annapolis.

The doubles point was not decided until the last match left on the courts finished.  The teams split 6-2 decisions at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles, then Navy's No. 3 team of Finn Garner (Sr., Arnold, Md.) and Christian Pumpelly (Sr., Atlanta, Ga.) registered a 6-4 win over Michael Bukhalo and Steven Nazaroff to give the Mids the 1-0 lead.

"The doubles point went down to the wire," said Navy head coach Chris Garner.  "Christian and Finn came up with a great point to break serve, then Finn served it out to give us the 1-0 advantage."

Navy would go on to win five straight-set singles matches.

Gavin Segraves (Sr., Charlottesville, Va.) posted a 6-2, 7-5 win against Jeremy Learner at No. 2 singles to make the score 2-0.  Aniketh Ayinala (Fr., Charlotte, N.C.) followed with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Jackson Morash to increase the advantage to 3-0.  Tallying the match-clinching fourth team point was Sasha Panyan (Jr., Lutherville, Md.) with his 6-4, 6-3 triumph over Matt Kleiman at No. 5 singles.

The lead grew to 5-0 when Luke Garner (So., Arnold, Md.) defeated Marc Bkekhman, 6-4, 6-4, at the No. 3 flight.  The final match to be decided in straights sets was at No. 4 singles where Herrick Legaspi (Fr., Sacramento, Calif.) won a 6-2, 6-3 match against Jordan Paul.

Completing play was Nathan Nguyen (Fr., McLean, Va.) with his 7-5, 0-6, 6-0 win over Bukhalo at No. 6 singles.

"The guys had great first sets in singles," said Garner, "then Lehigh stormed back in the second sets.  Everyone was able to stay the course for us to get the win.  Nathan came back to play a solid third set after his second set loss."

Navy will split its team for matches Sunday at Loyola (noon) and at William & Mary (2 p.m.).
