ANNAPOLIS, Md.— Bryan Fitzpatrick, Associate Athletic Director for Strength, Conditioning and Sports Performance for all 35 of Navy's varsity sports programs, has earned the title of Master Strength and Conditioning coach from the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association.
Fitzpatrick is one of only 310 individuals with this level of certification and corresponding title of distinction. This is the highest honor that can be achieved in the Strength and Conditioning coaching profession. It represents professionalism, knowledge, experience, expertise and longevity in the field.
In order to receive this level of certification and corresponding title of distinction, an individual must first meet the following criteria:
1) Hold at least a bachelor's degree.
2) Be a currently practicing, full-time strength & conditioning coach of a collegiate or professional athletic team.
3) Hold current membership in the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches association (CSCCa) and be in good standing.
4) Hold the CSCCa 's Certification – SCCC (Strength & Conditioning Coach Certified), which is NCCA accredited.
5) Be a full-time, strength and conditioning coach of a collegiate, and/or professional athletic team for a minimum of 12 years.
Fitzpatrick is in his 11th year at Navy and his fourth as an Associate Athletic Director.
Prior to Navy, Fitzpatrick spent three years at West Virginia as Assistant Football Strength and Conditioning Coach. He also spent one year with the Minnesota Vikings as Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach and was a Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Penn State.
Fitzpatrick earned a bachelor's degree in sports studies/sports and humanities from Towson in 2005 and earned a master's degree in education leadership/principal certification from Penn State in 2008.
