ANNAPOLIS, Md. – After opening the 2023-24 season last weekend, the Navy women's golf team continues its fall slate on Saturday and Sunday at the Nittany Lion Invitational in University Park, Pa.
 
Being played at Penn State's par-72, 6,402-yard Blue Course, the Midshipmen will begin competition with a 9 a.m. shotgun start on Saturday for the first and second rounds, while the final round is set for an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Sunday.

The Field
Along with the host Nittany Lions, the Mids will be joined this weekend in the 10-team field by 2023 Patriot League champion Richmond along with Akron, Boston College, Central Michigan, Eastern Kentucky, High Point, James Madison and Youngstown State.

The Mids opened the season at the two-day, 54-hole Bucknell Invitational, as Navy finished third in an 11-team field … Navy competed against four other Patriot League schools at the par-70, 5901-yard Bucknell Golf Club, with the course set to serve as the site of the 2024 Patriot League Championship … The Mids saw senior captain Mara Hirtle finish in second place while freshman Keira Howard tied for third place … As a squad, the Mids shot a 57-over par 897 score in the 54-hole event to finish behind first-place Boston University (48-over par 888) and the host Bison (56-over par 896) … Hirtle shot a 10-over par 220 (73-74-73) to finish five strokes behind the tournament medalist, tallying her program-record eighth top-5 finish … Firing a weekend score of 11-over par 221 (72-75-74), Howard became the first Navy freshman to place in the top-5 at their college debut since Angelina Chan tied for fifth place at the 2019 Bucknell Invitational … Finishing in a tie for 10th, senior Stephanie Lee scored a 17-over par 227 (76-71-80) … Junior Bridget Hoang tied for 17th place at 19-over par 229 (80-74-75), while freshman Emma Tang tied for 32nd with a score of 29-over par 239 (80-78-81) … Competing individually, sophomores Sue Lee and Hallie Brisco tied for 25th and 36th, respectively, as Lee shot a 24-over par 234 (78-73-83) while Brisco posted a 31-over par 241 (81-84-76).
 
Navy at the Nittany Lion Invitational
This weekend will mark the Mids' fourth trip to the Nittany Lion Invitational, previously attending the event in 2018, 2019 and 2022 … Navy set then-program records for lowest team round, lowest 54-hole team score and lowest 54-hole individual score at the 2018 Nittany Lion Invitational, as Morgan Frazier shot a 2-over par 218 to finish tied for seventh in the 90-golfer field while the Mids compiled a three-round total of 30-over par 894, shooting a team score of  5-over par 293 in the third round … The 2019 Nittany Lion Invitational saw the Mids take sixth place with a 48-over par 912, as Christine McDonnell led the team by tying for 11th in the 72-golfer field with a 4-over par 220 … Last season's event had Stephanie Lee shoot a team-low 7-over par 223 for 24th place, while the squad earned ninth place at 41-over par 905.
