ANNAPOLIS, Md. – After helping the Midshipmen to victory in their final team event of the fall, Navy freshman
Megan Kirkpatrick was named the Patriot League Women's Golfer of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.
Ending the weekend as the individual runner-up and tournament-winning Navy's top finisher, Kirkpatrick opened play at the Lehigh Invitational with a round of 77 on Saturday before improving to a 75 on Sunday, closing the tournament at an 8-over par 152 that was just two strokes behind individual medalist Katelynn Waclawski of Fairfield.
This marks Kirkpatrick's second Top-5 finish this season, taking fifth place in her collegiate debut at the Navy Fall Invitational. The rookie holds a season scoring average of 76.00 over six rounds.
Kirkpatrick's accolade is the third time this season the Mids have taken home the league's Golfer of the Week award, with
Emma Tang winning the honor on Oct. 2 and Oct. 16.
