Navy Junior Snipe Eli Heidenreich Named the Paul Hornung Award National Player of the Week, the DC Touchdown Club College Player of the Week and the Naval Academy Athletic Association Athlete of the Week

ANNAPOLIS, Md.—Navy junior snipe Eli Heidenreich has been named the Paul Hornung Award National Player of the Week presented by Roadhouse, the DC Touchdown Club College Player of the Week and the Naval Academy Athletic Association Athlete of the Week presented by Northrop Grumman for his performance in Navy's 34-7 rout of Air Force on Saturday.

Heidenreich carried the ball 6 times for 100 yards and caught 5 passes for 101 yards against the Falcons as the Mids won the first leg in the Commander-In-Chief's Trophy. Heidenreich is the first Navy player in school history to have 100 yards rushing and 100 yards receiving in a game.  It was Navy's first win over Air Force since 2019, Navy's first win in Colorado Springs since 2012 and the most points that Navy has scored in Colorado Springs since 1978 as Navy moved to 5-0 for the first time since 2017.  Navy's 27-point win over Air Force was the largest margin of victory by Navy over Air Force since 1978.

The Louisville Sports Commission successfully launched the Paul Hornung Award in 2010 to honor its namesake and native son, and to promote outstanding performances by versatile college football players who often go unnoticed. Each week during the regular season, a panel of college football experts selects players for the Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll based on performance. A national selection committee comprised of 18 sports journalists and former NFL stars votes for the Hornung Award finalists and the winner, with fan voting powered by Texas Roadhouse comprising the 19th vote.

The DC Touchdown Club honors the best in Washington Metro football, with year-round events highlighted by an annual awards dinner. Operated by the Military Bowl Foundation, the Club promotes the game of football, hosts entertaining social events and generates a significant philanthropic impact for Patriot Point.

Navy (5-0, 3-0 in the AAC) is off this week before playing host to Charlotte (3-3, 2-0) in a key AAC game next Saturday at 3:30 PM at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. A victory by Navy would make the Mids bowl eligible for the first time since 2019. Tickets are still available at: https://navysports.evenue.net/list/NAVY or by calling 1-800-US4-NAVY
