ANNAPOLIS, Md. – It was another doubleheader sweep for the Navy women's tennis team (9-2) on Saturday afternoon at the Tose Family Tennis Center, as back-to-back 7-0 wins over Coppin State (0-3) and Towson (0-1) gave head coach
Keith Puryear his 200th home victory with the Midshipmen.

With the Eagles forfeiting the No. 5 and No. 6 singles spots, Navy started the match up 2-0, while another forfeit at No. 3 doubles allowed the Mids to quickly secure the doubles point. With freshman

Manci Pal closed out with a 6-1 victory against the No. 1 CSU pairing of Emperess Johnson and Kenyange Kaounde.
Pal then got a win by retirement (2-0) over Johnson at the No. 3 position to lock up the Navy victory, while Jordaan scored a 6-0, 6-0 win against Kaounde in the No. 4 spot. Eklund then beat Azarak, 6-0, 6-0, on the second court and senior
Samantha Johns got the 6-0, 6-0 victory against Etienne in the No. 1 matchup.

The Mids opened their match with the Tigers by sweeping doubles play, as the junior duo of
Kate Lee and
Parvathi Shanker started it off with a 6-1 win over Chandre Boshoff and Olivia Rothfeld on court No. 2. Johns and sophomore
Sia Chaudry then got their own 6-1 victory on the top court against Ashira Murray and Mya Spencer, while Jordaan and classmate
Julia Lee defeated Towson's No. 3 pairing of Sania Suchinsky and Lea Kosanovic, 6-2.
Singles action saw junior
Emily Tannenbaum make short work of Boshoff on the No. 1 court, 6-1, 6-0, while
Julia Lee also got a 6-1, 6-0 win against Erin Gray in the No. 5 matchup and
Kate Lee's 7-5, 6-0 victory over Murray at the No. 3 spot clinched the Navy win. Freshman
Makaila Cheng then knocked off Kosanovic, 7-5, 6-0, in the No. 6 spot, Chaudry beat Spencer in three sets on the No. 2 court (6-2, 4-6, 10-5) and Shanker closed it out in the No. 4 position with a 7-5, 6-2 win against Rothfeld.
Match Notes
• Navy improved to 5-0 in the all-time series with Coppin State and 13-0 all-time against Towson.
• Tannenbaum is now three wins away from catching Darien Sears' 78 career singles victories that sit third in program history, while she is now tied with Kaylah Hodge for fourth in the record books with 132 career combined wins.
• The two team wins also gives Puryear a total of 726 career victories between UMBC (men's and women's) and Navy.
