ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Another busy week at home begins Tuesday for the Navy baseball team (4-7), as the Midshipmen are set for back-to-back midweek contests as part of a nine-game homestand at Terwilliger Brothers Field at Max Bishop Stadium.
 
Starting the week with UMBC (1-6) on Tuesday afternoon, Navy will then turn around to play Coppin State (1-5) in a Wednesday matinee, with both games slated for 3 p.m. first pitches.

Grenn's Gems
Sophomore right-hander Tyler Grenn has been a stable presence for the Mids in their first two midweek games, as Grenn holds a 1.23 ERA through two starts … Racking up 7.1 innings and holding opponents to one run on nine hits, the righty has also recorded three strikeouts and allowed just one extra-base hit … Grenn pitched 13.0 innings last season, recording a 11.77 ERA while striking out five in 10 appearances.
 
Murtha Leading the Way
Sophomore infielder Brock Murtha has been Navy's biggest offensive threat through 11 games, leading the team in batting average (.395), on-base percentage (.549), doubles (five), runs (14), RBI (11), hit-by-pitches (six) and stolen bases (seven) … Last week's four games saw Murtha go 7-for-17 while scoring eight times and driving in seven runs, racking up four extra-base hits and swiping three bases … Riding a 12-game on-base streak and a five-game hitting streak, Murtha ranks 27th in the country with his six hit-by-pitches and 33rd nationally with his seven steals.
 
Last Time Out
Navy dropped two of three in a weekend series with Iona, falling 8-4 in the Friday opener and coming back with a dominant 12-3 win on Saturday, but suffered an 8-7 extra-inning loss to the Gaels in Sunday's finale … Despite senior Logan Keller notching three hits to fall a home run shy of the cycle and sophomore Jackson Beattie striking a career-high seven batters, the Mids gave up a six-spot in the third inning on Friday that they never recovered from … Saturday saw freshman Brady Bendik go five strong innings in his first collegiate start, while Murtha's three-hit, three-RBI contest highlighted an offense that had five players record multi-hit performances … Even with a two-run first-inning homer from Keller on Sunday and three hits by junior Jack Finnigan in a game that saw Navy tie the game three times, the Mids were not able to claim the rubber match, as Iona's bullpen held Navy to one run over the final five innings.

Senior righty Nolan Jorgenson has posted a 0.00 ERA over two career outings against UMBC, allowing two unearned runs in 5.2 innings while punching out four batters … Senior Hudson Lehnertz is 5-for-14 all-time when facing the Retrievers for a .357 average, scoring four runs and driving in three more … Keller is 8-for-18 in four games against UMBC, also walking three times and scoring three runs.
