ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy heavyweight crew program will kick off its 2024 spring schedule this Saturday morning with a five-race slate against Princeton at home. The No. 12 Mids and No. 2 Tigers will compete over a 2,000-meter stretch of the Severn River beginning at 7:10 a.m. That initial contest will involve both first varsity eight crews racing for the right to take home the Navy-Princeton Cup. The meet is scheduled to conclude at 8:30 a.m. with the fifth varsity eight race.
The entire slate of the Navy-Princeton meet on Saturday will consist of races every 20 minutes. Following the cup race between the first varsities at 7:10 a.m., the 2V crews are set for 7:30 a.m. start. The rest of the action will go off at 7:50 a.m. (3V8), 8:10 a.m. (4V8) and 8:30 a.m. (5V8), respectively.
Class of 2024
A deep Navy squad will be spearheaded by 17 members of the Class of 2024.

Navy-Princeton Cup
The Navy-Princeton Cup dates back to 1913, though after a brief break, it was re-introduced into competition in 2014. Princeton has won each of the trophy races since 2014.

The No. 15 Navy heavyweight rowing team opened its 2023 season with the tough task of racing the No. 9 Princeton Tigers on the squad's home waters. Going head-to-head with the Tigers over a five-race slate at Lake Carnegie, the Mids raced hard throughout and finished the meet with a victory in the fifth varsity contest.
The action on Saturday started out with the first varsity eight crews setting off down a 2,000-meter stretch of Lake Carnegie with the Navy-Princeton Cup on the line. The current holders of the trophy, the Tigers made sure that they would retain the hardware as they led wire-to-wire over the Mids with a 5:34.1 to 5:56.4 final decision.

Directions to Navy Boathouse and viewing on Navy's Lower Course
*you will need a photo ID to walk onto Navy campus*
These driving directions will take you to Gate 8 of the Naval Academy. Spectators and guests should park outside of the gate and make the short walk (0.25 miles) to the boathouse. Once at the boathouse, it is another short walk (0.33 miles) to the finish line of the Lower Course.
• Route 50 towards Annapolis
• Take Exit 24, Rowe Blvd, Annapolis
• After approx 1 mile, make a left onto Taylor Ave.
• After passing a 7-Eleven, make a right at the T-intersection.
• Turn right at the second traffic light and then make another immediate right into a parking area and park there. To get to the boathouse, you need to walk down the hill along the practice baseball field and to the guard shack. Show your photo ID to the guard and continue to walk down the hill. The boathouse is the first building that you will see on the right after the guard shack.
• From the boathouse, you can walk to the finish line of the Lower Course. After crossing the road near the boathouse towards the cemetery, take the road that takes you along the water's edge in the creek (Do not cross over bridge). Once you get to the hospital point fields, walk across field to the right corner of the seawall. The finish line is directly at that corner.
