Navy Men’s Rugby Names Dallas Elliston as Director of Operations

Annapolis, Md. – Dallas Elliston, a 2021 graduate of the Naval Academy, has been named director of operations for the Navy men's rugby team, announced by Director of Rugby Gavin Hickie.

"Dallas has been a critical member of our staff over the past two seasons all while balancing a number of roles," said Hickie. "I am thrilled Coach Elliston has officially joined our staff. His leadership, mentorship and coaching make him invaluable to our midshipmen and Navy rugby."

Elliston had previously served as a volunteer coach with the Midshipmen since the fall of 2022. Navy has compiled a 35-2 record, played in each of the last two National Championship games, including winning the title in 2023 and a pair of Rugby East titles (2022, 2023).

"I am grateful for this opportunity to officially continue the work of my past two years with Navy," said Elliston. "As an alum, it is with deep love that I get to coach and grow with these men who continue to carry our legacy forward."

In 2021, Elliston graduated with distinction and was commissioned a 2nd Lt. in the United States Marine Corps. During his three years in the Marine Corps, Elliston was assigned to Navy men's rugby as an officer representative and its forwards coach. In this role, he used the sport's platform to facilitate an environment for developing and testing the character and leadership of players in line with the overall mission of the Naval Academy.

Elliston resides in Annapolis with his wife, Macalah.
