ANNAPOLIS, Md.—Navy junior quarterback Blake Horvath and junior striker Kenneth McShan are on the Comeback Player of the Year Watch List it was announced today by The College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) in association with The Associated Press (AP) and the Fiesta Bowl.

Since 2018, the award has recognized college football student-athletes for overcoming injury, illness, or other circumstances.  At the conclusion of each season, in a vote by a panel of college football writers, editors, and sports information directors, three college football student-athletes are honored as Comeback Player of the Year Award winners at the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl.

Horvath, who entered the fall as the starting quarterback, is coming off a season where he missed the final seven games of the year after injuring his thumb in his first career start against North Texas.  He had rushed for 88 yards on 18 carries in less than a half of football before going down with the season ending injury. Horvath also threw for two touchdowns earlier in the year against USF.

McShan enters the fall second on the depth chart at striker after missing his first two years with knee injuries. As a freshman, McShan injured his left knee in the second game of the year and was lost for the season.  Last year, McShan injured his right knee in preseason camp and was lost for the season.

Horvath and McShan are two of the five players from the American Athletic Conference on the list and the only two Service Academy players on the list.
