Mids Win Mixed Doubles Final at Milwaukee Tennis Classic

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The fall season continued this weekend for the Navy men's tennis team as two Mids competed in the prestigious Milwaukee Tennis Classic and two more took part in the Liberty Hidden Duals Invitational in Lynchburg, Va.

Headlining the efforts on the weekend was an all-Navy pairing in the mixed doubles final at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic.  Aniketh Ayinala teamed with Emily Tannenbaum to defeat fellow Mids J.J. Etterbeek and Olivia Fermo in the final (mixed doubles match scores from the tournament were not available).

Elsewhere in the tournament, Ayinala and Etterbeek lost in the first round of doubles to a team from Wisconsin, then each fell in straight sets in singles to players from school.  Ayinala would win a 6-2, 6-2 decision against Marquette's Ivan Vazquez in the first round of the consolation bracket before he lost, 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (10-7) to DePaul's Tobias Leitner in the quarterfinals of the back draw.

Competing in Lynchburg were Jason Kim and Nathan Nguyen.  The duo posted a 1-2 record as a doubles team with the victory coming against Princeton's Matthew Bosancic and Aidan Mahoney (6-2) and the losses coming to pairings from Penn (6-4) and Charlotte (6-2).

The Navy players combined for a 5-5 record in singles with Nguyen posting a 3-2 record and Kim a 2-3 mark.  The respective singles matches came against players from Charlotte, Penn and Princeton.

The fall slate continues this week with members of the team competing at the San Diego Veterans Tennis Classic and the Richmond Invitational.
