WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Navy women's cross country team (0-1) dropped a 15-46 decision to Army (1-0) at the annual Star Meet, which is part of the overall Army-Navy Star Series, presented by USAA on Saturday morning at the at the West Point Golf Course in West Point, N.Y. The Black Knights claimed the top six spots to secure the win, while the Midshipmen, led by senior team captain
Sophie Compton, finished seventh through 10th in the 6K race.
"We're either winning or we're learning, and we've got plenty to learn from today," head coach
Kim Lewnes said. "We know the training we put in leading up to this race, and we know what we need to adjust in the future. We are not where we need to be as a team. This will be a powerful motivator for us to come back with vengeance.
"We look forward to competing against the rest of the conference at the Patriot League Championship, but even so I think it will again come down to Army vs. Navy."
Army senior Charlotte Richman was the individual winner, clocking a time of 19:49.6. She was followed by five teammates to sweep the top six spots on the leaderboard.
Compton led the Midshipmen with a time of 20:49.1 to take seventh place. Sophomore
Jane Phillips followed with a time of 20:51.2 to take eighth. Freshman
Juliet Frum claimed ninth with a time of 20:55.1 in her first Star Meet, while junior
Lexi Ensor took 10th with a time of 20:56.3. Seniors
Kate Leddy rounded out Navy's top five with a 12th-place finish in a time of 21:05.5. Senior
Mia-Claire Kezal (21:18.0) and sophomore
Madeline Palmisciano (21:25.1) closed out the Midshipmen counters.

Saturday's competition marked the conclusion of Navy's regular season as Navy will turn its attention to action at the 2025 Patriot League Championship on Friday, October 31.
