Women’s Tennis Closes Fall Slate by Hosting Navy Blinds

Mids Welcome Johns Hopkins, Loyola and Towson to Town for Singles and Doubles Action

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – In its final event of the fall season, the Navy women's tennis team is set to host a trio of regional foes this weekend as part of the Navy Blinds at the Tose Family Tennis Center.

Hosting Johns Hopkins, Patriot League rival Loyola and Towson on Saturday and Sunday, the Midshipmen will compete against the Tigers in singles and doubles competition on Saturday before facing the Greyhounds in doubles play, while Sunday will see the Mids and Blue Jays battle in singles and doubles action.

Tournament Information
Saturday will feature three rounds of doubles and two rounds of singles play, while Sunday also includes three rounds of doubles action and two rounds of singles competition … Navy will take part in one singles round and two doubles sections in Saturday's slate, while the Mids are set for one singles flight and one round of doubles matches … The Mids will face off with Johns Hopkins and Towson in both singles and doubles play, while Navy is slated to battle Loyola in doubles action only.

The Competition
Navy has seen Johns Hopkins players at the Navy Blue & Gold Invitational in late September, while the Mids competed along with Loyola and Towson at the ITA Atlantic Regional in October … Navy and Loyola also participated in the ITA Conference Masters' Patriot League Qualifier last week … Last spring, the Mids beat Towson by a 5-2 final on Feb. 22, then swept Loyola, 7-0, during league play on April 9 and followed it with a 4-0 win over the Greyhounds in the Patriot League Quarterfinals.

Last Time Out
After opening the ITA Conference Masters' Patriot League Qualifier last Friday with sophomores Molly Bellia and Emma Gu notching wins in the singles round-of-16 and the pairing of junior Olivia Fermo and freshman Nicole Fu advancing through the doubles quarterfinals, all four Mids saw their runs end Saturday afternoon when Bellia and Gu fell in the singles' quarterfinal round while the Fermo-Fu duo suffered defeat in the doubles semifinals.

Scouting the Mids
Leading the team with identical 12-2 singles records are Fermo and Fu, while Gu ranks second on the Mids with a 9-5 singles mark … Sophomore Grace Li is a perfect 4-0 this fall on the singles courts … Fermo and Fu have partnered to post a team-leading 9-4 doubles record … Li and freshman Anna Wiskowski have gone 3-0 as a doubles pairing so far … Overall, Fermo has 10 doubles wins this fall.
