ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Freshman
Tyler Wee became the first Midshipmen in program history to shoot a 600 in air rifle in a competition, leading Navy (5-2, 1-1 GARC) to a 4739-4691 victory over #12 Akron (6-4, 0-2 GARC). T. Wee's air rifle record helped the team post a new program record of 2385 in the discipline, while his school-record 1193 aggregate led the Mids to a new team-best 4739 in combined shooting.
"We had an outstanding performance and a win today against 12th-ranked Akron," head coach
Mike Anti said after the match. "Our final score set a new program record beating our previous record by nine points. In addition, we also set our team PR in air rifle. I am very proud of our team not only for how they performed today, but also for the effort they are putting into practice every day. Every one of our athletes have worked hard to improve their skill level since our last match. They are pushing each other in a positive way to be better."
As a team, the Midshipmen started the match with a 2354 in smallbore. The total tied for the second-best score in the discipline in Navy history. The Mids followed that score with a new program record tally of 2385 in air rifle to give the team a new school-record score of 4739 aggregate.
T. Wee opened the day with a 593 in smallbore, tying his season-best performance he shot earlier in the year against #2 Kentucky. The freshman followed that performance with the first 600 in Navy rifle history, giving the rookie an individual program-record tally of 1193 on the day.
"We had a number of amazing individual performances, which included a perfect 600 score from
Tyler Wee," added Anti. "This is the first time in program history that a perfect score was fired by one of our athletes. He also shot the highest score for the match in smallbore to lead our team in our record-breaking score and earn the MVP for the match."
He was followed by
Parker Haydin and
Isabella Baldwin. The duo both shot aggregate scores in the 1180s. Haydin shot his third 1186 in four meets on the year, while Baldwin posted an 1181 for her second performance in the 1180s on the season. Haydin finished with a 588 in smallbore to go along with a 598 in air rifle, while Baldwin posted a 586 in smallbore and a 595 in air.

Ryan Wee used a career-high 587 in smallbore and a 584 in air rifle to notch a season-high score of 1171.
Chelsie Glover tied a season and career high with an aggregate score of 1163. The junior posted scores of 574 in smallbore and 589 in air rifle to match her career-high aggregate. Senior team captain
Catherine Dely used scores of 570 (smallbore) and 591 (air rifle) to post an 1161 on the day. Her 591 in air rifle marked the third time this season the senior shot in the 590s in the event.
Preston Everette and
Grace Shepard matched one another with an 1157 on the day. Everette registered his new career high thanks to a season-best 576 in smallbore and matching his season-high 581 in air rifle. Shepard registered scores of 565 (smallbore) and 592 (air rifle) for her 1157. Her performance in air rifle was just two points shy of matching her career high.
Audrey Hart and
Devin Uhrich both tallied 1149, while
Bennett Hilgenberg rounded out the scoring with a 1091. Hart set her new collegiate best total thanks to a season-high 563 in smallbore and a 586 in air rifle. Uhrich posted scores of 564 (smallbore) and 585 (air rifle) for his 1149. Hilgenberg used a season-high 560 in air rifle to give himself a new career-high 1091 aggregate score.
