ANNAPOLIS, Md.—Navy sophomore safety Phillip Hamilton and senior kicker Nathan Kirkwood have been named American Conference Defensive and Specialist of the Week for their performance in Navy's 41-38 win over No. 24 USF on Saturday in Annapolis.

Hamilton was all over the field for the Midshipmen, totaling seven tackles, while also forcing a fumble and intercepting a pass. His interception set up a field goal for the Mids.

Kirkwood tallied 11 points for Navy in the win.  The senior made field goals of 44 and 31 yards, while going a perfect 5-for-5 on extra points. Kirkwood is now 9-10 on field goals for the year, with his only miss a 50-yard attempt against Rice.

Navy (8-2, 6-1 in the American) will be back in action on Thanksgiving night when they travel to Memphis to take on the Tigers (8-3, 4-3). Kickoff is set for 7:30 PM (ET), 6:30 PM in Memphis.  The game will be televised nationally on ESPN and broadcast on the Navy Radio Network.

With two weeks remaining Navy, North Texas, Tulane and ECU are in a four-way tie for first place in the loss column (Navy is off this week while the other three teams play) with the top two teams advancing to the American Conference Championship game on Friday, Dec. 5 at the home of the highest remaining seed.
