ANNAPOLIS, Md.—The Navy football team (9-2, 7-1 in the American) is ranked 23rd in the latest Associated Press poll and 25th in the AFCA Coaches poll. Navy is coming off a 28-17 road win at Memphis on Thanksgiving night. Navy is one of three teams from the American Conference ranked as both North Texas (No. 20) and Tulane (No. 21) are also ranked in both polls.
This is the first time that Navy has been ranked in the Associated Press poll since last year when the Mids were ranked for two weeks before losing to Notre Dame. The No. 23 ranking is the highest for Navy since being ranked No. 20 in the final AP poll in 2019, a season that saw the Mids tie the school record with 11 wins.
The Mids were ranked 23rd in the AFCA Coaches Poll earlier this year before losing to North Texas.
Navy is idle this week before playing in the annual Army-Navy Game presented by USAA on Saturday, Dec. 13 at 3 PM at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore in the greatest rivalry in all of sports.
The Commander-In-Chief's Trophy will be on the line as both teams defeated Air Force earlier this year. Navy has won the CIC Trophy 17 times, while Army has won it 10 times.
Navy leads the all-time series 63-55-7 including last year's 31-13 win at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Md.
Navy won the CIC Trophy last year and has won it 12 times in the last 22 years. The Mids are 31-15 (.674) against Army and Air Force over the last 46 games. The Mids have not won the Commander-In-Chief's Trophy in back-to-back years since 2012-13.
This will be the seventh time that the game is played in Baltimore with both teams winning three games each.
