This Week
•    Navy will close out the home portion of its 2025 regular season with matinee matches against Loyola on Saturday and American on Sunday.  First serve for each match is set for 2 p.m. in the Wesley A. Brown Field House.
•    ESPN+ will stream the matches, with those links and live statistics found at NavySports.com.

Attending the Matches
•    Only those vehicles driven by someone with a Department of Defense (DoD)-approved identification card will be allowed onto the USNA.
•    Fans without DoD approved vehicle access to the USNA must park outside of The Yard.  The simplest way to do this is to take the free shuttle bus, which begins service one hour prior to the start of the match.
•    The shuttle bus will depart from and return to Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium (550 Taylor Avenue, Annapolis, Md., 21401).  Enter the blue / west parking lot through gate 5 off of Taylor Avenue.  There is a $10 per vehicle parking fee.  The free fan shuttle bus will leave from and return to the Blue Angel jet.  
•    Whether a visitor rides the shuttle bus or walks through one of the USNA gates, everyone ages 18 and over must have a valid picture ID (i.e.: State issued driver's license with REAL ID or a government issued passport). Visitors ages 17 and younger who do not have a valid picture ID must be accompanied by an adult. Foreign passports are not permitted for general access.

Last Week
•    The Mids split a pair of five-set matches.  
•    Navy ran its winning streak to five in a row with a 25-19, 25-16, 23-25, 21-25, 15-13 win at Holy Cross on Halloween night.
•    The Mids then fell the next day at Army, 25-17, 22-25, 25-27, 25-14, 15-9.

Injury Report
•    Navy is down four starters / key contributors from what was expected at the start of the season.
•    Paige Buzzerio set a career high of 17 kills in Navy's first match of the season, but suffered a knee injury later that same day in the team's second match.
•    Emerson Lionberger played in 19 matches a year ago as freshman, but a shoulder injury curtailed her 2025 season before it started.  She received limited playing time in 23 sets before being shut down.
•    Ellen Gundlach was the Patriot League Rookie of the Week on Sept. 2 and was averaging over two kills a set on the year before suffering an ankle injury Sept. 26 at American.  She has not returned to the lineup.
•    Julia Humphrey started every match this year and averaged 1.36 kills and 1.03 blocks per set and was hitting .358 before a hip injury from last year ended her season after the Oct. 11 match against Bucknell. 

Navy vs. Loyola
•    Loyola enters the weekend with a 6-16 record this season, which includes a 4-9 record in league matches.
•    The home team has won the last four matches in the series.
•    Loyola edged the Mids in five very close sets –– 25-21, 25-27, 21-25, 26-24, 18-16 –– Sept. 27 in Baltimore.
•    Navy and Loyola have played 12 matches –– including six five-set matches –– and 52 sets against one another since the start of the spring 2020-21 season.  Of those 52 sets, 16 were decided by two points –– including seven "overtime" sets –– 22 were decided by three or fewer points and 32 were determined by no more than five points.

Navy vs. American
•    American enters the week having won its last 12 matches and with an overall record of 19-4 and a league mark of 12-1.
•    The Eagles defeated the Mids in three sets (25-19, 25-20, 25-15), Sept. 26 in Washington, D.C.
•    Navy head coach Paco Labrador has accounted for seven of the program's eight victories over the Eagles since the Mids joined the Division I ranks in 1991.

Toppin Lately
•    Ava Toppin is averaging 2.60 kills (91 total) and 1.43 blocks per set (50) and hitting .428 (91-14-180) over the last eight matches / 35 sets (Oct. 4 at Lafayette through Nov. 1 at Army).
•    She ranks 68th nationally with her .365 hitting percentage and is 65th in the country with 102 total blocks (through matches of Wednesday, Nov. 5).

First Set Key
•    Navy has compiled a much better match record when it wins the first set than it does when losing the first frame.
•    The Mids have posted a 54-8 record overall since 2021 when winning the first set and an 11-55 record when losing the first set.
•    In league matches during this span, the Mids have compiled a 33-6 record when they win set number one and a 9-29 record when they drop the opening frame.

Five-Set Matches
•    Navy played 20 five-set matches during the 2022 (8), 2023 (7) and 2024 (5) seasons.  This includes 16 such matches against Patriot League foes during the regular season.
•    The Mids have played seven five-set matches this year, with five of those being league matches.
•    Navy also played 20 five-set matches during the rally scoring era (since 2001) over the 2005-07 and 2017-19 seasons.
•    The Mids have played 45 five-set matches under Paco Labrador (since 2018).

More Close Sets
•    Navy has played 15 sets this season (7-8 record) in which the final score has been above the 25-point mark in sets one through four and / or 15 points in set five.
•    The Mids played 12 such "overtime" sets all of last season.
•    Navy also has played 27 sets decided by two points this year (16-11 record) after it played 23 during the 2024 campaign.
•    In league matches, Navy has posted records of 17-19 in sets decided by five or fewer points, 7-6 in two-point sets and 2-4 in "overtime" sets.

Starting Lineups
•    Navy has used 16 different starting lineups (including the libero) in its 22 matches this season.
•    14 players have started at least one match this year.

•    The Wesley A. Brown Field House has served as the primary home for the Navy volleyball team since the start of the 2008 season.
•    The Mids have compiled a 97-86 record in the facility, which includes a 48-31 record under head coach Paco Labrador.  
•    Additionally, Navy has registered a 77-50 record in Patriot League regular season matches played in the facility.  The Mids have posted a 38-17 league regular season record under Labrador in the building.
•    The late Lt. Cmdr. Wesley A. Brown ('49) was the first African-American graduate of the USNA.

Double-Doubles
•    Arleigh Hanson registered 10 assist / dig double-doubles during the 2024 season.  That tied her for sixth place for the most by a Mid during a rally scoring season.
•    She then posted double-doubles in each of the three matches at the 2025 season-opening Utah Valley Invite and added another one against Gardner-Webb.
•    Her 14 career assist / dig double-doubles ranks eighth in school history.
•    Fellow setters Isa Boyd and Lainey Feighery also have combined for 11 double-doubles this season and 14 in their careers.

Toppin Moving Up Blocks List
•    Ava Toppin is averaging over one block per set this season.  That average has allowed her to improve her standing on Navy's season and career blocks-per-set charts.
•    Her 1.13 blocks-per-set average this year is tied for fifth at Navy and her average of 0.94 bocks per set during her career is tied for third place.

Farrah as a Freshman in 2024
•    Farrah Eike earned Second-Team All-Patriot League accolades during as a freshman during the 2024 season when she led the Mids in both kills (168) and kills per set (2.67 kps).
•    She became the fifth freshman to lead Navy in both statistical categories on the Division I program and the third to do so during the rally scoring era.
•    Despite playing in just 57 of the team's 90 sets due to nursing an injury at the start of the 2025 season, she still ranks first on the team with an average of 3.09 kills per set and is second on the team to Ava Toppin's 208 kills with 176 of her own.
•    Eike tallied 26 kills in Navy's Oct. 24 five-set win over Lafayette.  The 26 kills –– on 67 attempts –– left her one shy of tying her personal high of 27.
•    Also, Eike's 26 kills ties her for ninth place at Navy for the most during the rally scoring era, while her 67 attempts ties her for sixth during a rally scoring match and seventh in school history (since 1991).  She also scooped up a career-high 16 digs.
