ANNAPOLIS, Md. – It was a successful Saturday for the Navy women's tennis team, as the Midshipmen earned a doubleheader sweep with wins over Towson, 5-2, and George Mason, 7-0, at the Tose Family Tennis Center in Annapolis, Md.
With the victories, Navy improved to 7-7 on the season, while Towson shifted to 1-4 and George Mason moved to 2-3.

Opening the morning against the Tigers, Navy claimed the doubles point as freshman
Molly Bellia and sophomore
Manci Pal posted a 6-0 win over the No. 2 pairing of Tamzin Poutney and Ashira Murray while senior
Parvathi Shanker and freshman
Grace Li beat Chandre Boshoff and Kiersten Tambe, 6-2, in the top slot. Finishing up the doubles sweep was senior
Sylvia Eklund and freshman
Emma Gu with a 6-2 win on the third court against Gaia Montecchi and Sania Suchinsky.
In singles action, Shanker started it off with a 6-2, 6-1 victory against Poutney on the No. 1 court, while Li followed with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Boshoff at the No. 5 position and Pal secured the team win by defeating Suchinsky, 6-3, 6-2, in the No. 6 spot.
Bellia then posted a 6-3, 2-6, 10-3 victory on the third court against Montecchi, but Tambe knocked off Eklund in a 2-6, 7-5, 10-8 match at No. 2 and Murray defeated Gu, 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 10-5, on the fourth court to close out the contest.

The Mids once again took all three doubles matches in the nightcap, as freshmen
Peyton Amspacher-Philemon and
Ji Soo Oh beat the No. 3 duo of Maya Bayat and Lakshya Motam, 6-2, Eklund and sophomore
Olivia Fermo edged out Brooklyn Siegel and Mary Young, 7-6 (7-1), on the second court and senior
Kate Lee teamed up with sophomore
Julia Lee to outlast the top Mason pairing of Cenan Liu and Lauren Splett.
Fermo then began singles play by defeating Maitree Rout in the No. 4 matchup, 6-0, 6-1, and
Kate Lee knocked off Young, 6-2, 6-2, in the No. 2 spot right after. Li then clinched Navy's second win of the day with her 6-4, 6-2 victory over Liu at the No. 1 position.
Continuing the Navy run, Amspacher-Philemon notched a 6-3, 6-2 win against Noelle Talarek on the fifth court, Gu tallied a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Bayat at the third position and Oh ended the afternoon with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) winning decision against Splett in the No. 6 slot.

"Love the way we battled today. Both teams are well coached and played with a ton of energy, which we did a good job of matching on and off the court. Match-by-match we are playing more composed and taking the things we're experiencing and applying them in match play. We are looking forward to a good week of practice to prepare for next week's matches."
