SEDONA, Ariz. – Sophomore
Keira Howard finished tied for second while the Navy women's golf team placed 14th in a 19-team field at the snow-shortened 2025 Red Rocks Invitational on Sunday at Oakcreek Country Club in Sedona, Ariz.
Hosted by Northern Arizona at the par-72, 6,215-yard course, the three-day tournament was condensed from a 54-hole event to just 18 holes, as snow halted Friday's action halfway through and the resulting accumulation led to play to Saturday being postponed due to unplayable course conditions.
Playing in their first event in a month and a half, the Midshipmen posted a 17-over par 305, three strokes behind 13th-place Wichita State.
Grand Canyon took home the team title with an even-par 288 weekend, finishing one stroke ahead of the host Lumberjacks, while NAU's Ellena Slater was the individual medalist with a 3-under par 69 outing.
Competing as an individual, Howard found herself in a four-way tie for the runner-up spot at 2-under par 70, matching Delaware's Mary Grace Dunigan, Shakira Kuys of South Dakota State and Seattle's Tsara Ralamboarison. The 69 score marks her best round of the season to date.
Posting the best scores in Navy's lineup, senior captain
Bridget Hoang shot a 3-over par 75 to place 42nd, and junior
Sue Lee was right behind her with a 4-over par 76 to take 55th on the leaderboard. Rookie
Megan Kirkpatrick and sophomore
Emma Tang tied for 62nd with matching rounds of 5-over par 77, while sophomore
Una Johnson rounded out the lineup by shooting 12-over par 84 that closed in 103rd.
Also competing as individuals, freshman
Vivian Cressman placed 95th with a 9-over par 81 score, while junior
Hallie Brisco shot a 10-over par 82 to finish 99th.
Navy will be back in action when it hosts Delaware in match play this Saturday, March 22 at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Club.
