Baseball Continues Homestand with Dartmouth on Tuesday

Navy Riding Hot Streak with Wins in Five of its Last Six Games

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Following its Star series win over rival Army, the Navy baseball team (8-10) returns to action Tuesday afternoon for a 3 p.m. non-conference showdown with Dartmouth (0-8) at Terwilliger Brothers Field at Max Bishop Stadium.

The midweek contest continues a 10-game homestand for the Midshipmen, part of a 19-game stretch that has Navy playing at home 18 times.

Kruer and DePerno Earn Weekly Patriot League Honors
Two of the key cogs in Navy's Star series win over Army have earned weekly honors from the Patriot League … Senior right-hander Landon Kruer was named the Patriot League Pitcher of the Week while freshman catcher Ty DePerno was awarded the league's Rookie-of-the-Week accolade on Monday afternoon … Making up the pitcher-catcher battery that closed out both of the Midshipmen's wins against Army, Kruer picks up his first weekly honor of the season from the Patriot League and the third of his career, while DePerno's award marks his second in a four-week span … Tallying a 1.59 ERA in 5.2 innings over three appearances, Kruer struck out five while not allowing a walk and picking up two saves … For DePerno, he batted .533 on the week, as the rookie catcher tallied eight hits, five runs scored, a double, a home run and a pair of walks to go with six RBI over four games.

Kruer Named NAAA Athlete of the Week
After closing out three wins in a five-day stretch and helping the Midshipmen claim the baseball star series, Kruer was named the Naval Academy Athletic Association (NAAA) Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Northrop Grumman on Monday … Earning the save in both Navy wins this weekend against Army, Kruer finished his week with a 1.59 ERA in 5.2 innings over three appearances, striking out five while not allowing a walk … The two saves tied Kruer for the Patriot League career saves record, matching former Holy Cross pitcher John Colella's 28 career saves … The 28 career saves are also the most among active pitchers across all NCAA divisions.
