ANNAPOLIS, Md. – After closing out three wins in a five-day stretch and helping the Midshipmen claim the baseball star series, Navy senior pitcher
Landon Kruer was named the Naval Academy Athletic Association (NAAA) Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Northrop Grumman on Monday.
Â
Earning the save in both Navy wins this weekend against Army, Kruer finished his week with a 1.59 ERA in 5.2 innings over three appearances, striking out five while not allowing a walk.
Â
Going 1.2 innings at Fordham, the right-hander allowed one hit and struck out one Ram to seal the Midshipmen's 11-7 win. Kruer then gave up a run in the first game Saturday against Army but held on to post the two-inning save and strike out two Black Knights, and came back on Sunday to punch out two more batters in two frames to earn the save in the Star Series finale. The wins gave Navy its first baseball star since 2021 and moved the Mids to 2-1 in Patriot League play.
Â
The two saves tied Kruer for the Patriot League career saves record, matching former Holy Cross pitcher John Colella's 28 career saves. The 28 career saves are also the most among active pitchers across all NCAA divisions.

Navy hosts Dartmouth on Tuesday afternoon before welcoming league foe Bucknell to town this weekend for a four-game series.
