BOSTON, Mass. – Senior
Alyssa Daley set a Navy single-game record with 19 draw controls, helping the Midshipmen (8-4, 3-1 Patriot League) control possession in a 16-8 victory over Boston University (7-4, 2-2 Patriot League) on Saturday afternoon at Nickerson Field. The win was the 250th in program history and Navy's 100th regular-season Patriot League victory.
Daley finished the game with 19 of Navy's 21 draw controls on the day. The 19 draws bested the previous school record of 18 draws that was set by Reagan Roelofs ('22) against Army in the semifinals of the Patriot League Tournament in 2019.
With her 19 draws, she has five double-digit draw performances this season and 17 in her Midshipmen career. The senior has eight of the top 15 draw performances in program history. Daley now has 112 draw control wins on the season and 380 in her career. She is 10 draw controls back of Roelofs for second in program history with 390 and 20 shy of becoming just the second player in program history with 400 or more draws, joining Loren Generi ('15) who finished her career with 493.

The Midshipmen were able to score 16 goals on 35 shots, while adding seven assists.
Alyssa Chung led the Midshipmen with a team-high four goals to go along with an assist for a team-best five points. She was joined by
Emma Kennedy and
Emily Messinese who added four points apiece. Kennedy finished with three goals and an assist, while Messinese notched a pair of scores to go along with a team-high two helpers.
Maggie DeFabio registered multiple goals, finding the back of the net twice.

Mikayla Williams each scored in the game.
Taylor Miles,
Grace Peterson, and Williams rounded out Navy's assists on the day.
The Navy defense once again held another opponent to single-digit goals. The Midshipmen have five opponents to single-digit goals this season, including three Patriot League foes. In it's history, Navy is 182-3 (.984) when holding an opponent to single-digit goals.
The Mids caused eight of Boston's 16 turnovers on the day, including disrupting four of the Terriers' clear attempts in the transition game. Chung, DeFabio, and Messinese along with
Landen Cain,
Felicia Giglio,
Jalin Jenkins,
Lily Schmalz, and
Ava Yovino were credited with takeaways in the game. Giglio and Messinese led the team with four ground balls apiece with Chung following with three. Cain, DeFabio, and Kennedy each added two GB apiece.
Giglio earned the win in cage for the Midshipmen, working 45 minutes of action allowing five goals with five saves.
Emma Richardell took over in the fourth quarter, notching two stops in 15 minutes of action.
For Boston, Izabella Amonte led the way with four goals, while Leah Hodgins followed with a pair of scores. Kendall Sims registered four of BU's seven draw controls, while Alexandra Burns led the Terriers with four ground balls. Natalie Aiosa worked a complete game at goal, surrendering 16 goals with 12 saves to her credit.
Navy jumped out to an early lead thanks to a 3-0 run that saw Kennedy, Chung, and Messinese each finding the back of the cage. BU stopped the run briefly with a goal, but the Midshipmen countered with eight straight scores by six different players. Williams opened the run and Kennedy followed with a free-position goal. DeFabio and Gotterup both got in on the scoring with Chung notching her second score of the first half. In the second quarter, the run continued as Brown took a feed from Chung and buried it in the back of the cage. Kennedy and DeFabio notched their second goals of the run to extend the advantage to 11-1 with five and a half minutes to play in the first half. Boston University scored a pair of goals to end the Navy run, but Leone ended the half with a goal to put the Mids in front 12-3 at intermission.
The two teams matched one another in the third quarter, both scoring two goals apiece. Chung notched the two goals for the Midshipmen, giving the freshman four scores on the day and 19 for season against Patriot League competition.
In the fourth quarter, DiCarlo and Messinese scored to push the advantage to 16-5. Boston scored the final three goals of the contest to provide the final margin, 16-8.
