BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Senior draw control specialist
Alyssa Daley became the first player in program history with 20 or more draws in a game as she recorded a new school record of 21 draw controls to help the No. 22 Navy women's lacrosse team (10-5, 5-2 Patriot League) to a 21-5 road victory over Lehigh (5-8, 2-5 Patriot League) on Wednesday night at Frank Banko Field at the Ulrich Sports Complex in Bethlehem, Pa.
Daley broke her own single-game school record of 19 that she set earlier in the year on the road at Boston University. She won 21 of the Mids' 24 draws in the game, while winning 72.4-percent of the total draws in the game (29). The senior finished one draw victory shy of tying the Patriot League record (22).
On the year, Daley leads all Navy players with 163 draw victories, which is 28 draws shy of her single-season school record from last season (191). Daley, who became just the second player in program history with 400 or more draws last weekend at Army, now has 431 career draws. She trails only Loren Generi ('15), who finished her career with 493, in the Navy annals.
"I'm incredibly proud of how our team came together today," head coach
Cindy Timchal said. "From the first whistle, we played with heart, discipline, and a relentless energy that defines Navy women's lacrosse. Lehigh is a strong opponent, and this win was earned through grit and trust in one another. We're building something special, and this was another important step forward."
Offensively, the Midshipmen were able to score early and often with nine players finding the back of the net, including five Mids with multiple scores.
Alyssa Chung led the way with seven points on a new career-high six goals and an assist. She has recorded 12 multi-goal performances in her young career (15 games total), including 10 hat tricks. In seven Patriot League games, the freshman leads Navy with 39 points (5.57 per game) on a team-best 31 goals (4.43), while adding eight assists (1.14). She has recorded multiple goals in all seven conference games this season with six hat tricks.
Tori DiCarlo and
Emily Messinese both finished with five points apiece. DiCarlo had four goals and an assist, while Messinese added three scores and a pair of helpers. For Messinese, it was her eighth hat trick of the year and the 32nd of her career, while it was the third hat trick of the season for DiCarlo and the 22nd of her career.
Maggie DeFabio and
Emma Kennedy added two goals apiece, while

Felicia Giglio finished the game with five saves in 54 minutes of action, while
Emma Richardell added a stop in six minutes in the cage.

DiCarlo followed with a goal and Kennedy pushed the margin to three with her first score of the period. Chung netted her first goal of the frame with Kennedy giving the visitors a 5-0 advantage. Following a Lehigh goal, Chung extended the advantage back to five goals with her second score of the period.

Lehigh scored on a free-position opportunity, but Messinese responded to keep Nay in front by 14. The Mountain Hawks used a pair of goals to close out the third quarter, but would not score again as the Midshipmen defense held the hosts scoreless in the fourth.
