BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Paced by its two freshmen and holding six of the top-seven spots on the individual leaderboard, the Navy women's golf team took a commanding lead in the standings on the first day of the 2025 Patriot League Championship, held Friday at Saucon Valley Country Club's Grace Course in Bethlehem, Pa.
Hosted by Lehigh at the par-72, 6012-yard course, the Midshipmen posted a first-round score of 4-over par 292 to kick off the league tournament, putting Navy 18 strokes ahead of second-place Boston University. The 292 total marks the Mids' second-best team round of the season, one stroke shy of the season low set in the second round of the Navy Fall Invitational.
Sitting atop the player leaderboard after the opening day of play were Navy rookies
Vivian Cressman and
Megan Kirkpatrick, with both freshmen shooting even-par 72 rounds on Friday. The 72 score marked Cressman's lowest round of the season to date.
Right behind Cressman and Kirkpatrick at 1-over par 73, sophomore
Emma Tang found herself tied for third place with Boston's Annika Manjunath at the close of play Friday afternoon.
Rounding out the Navy lineup were senior
Bridget Hoang, junior
Sue Lee and sophomore
Keira Howard, as the three Mids found themselves in a three-way tie for fifth place at 3-over par 75.
Second-round action of the Patriot League Championship begins Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m.
